It took me three visits to Madrid to finally make it to the Reales Járdines Botánicos, and it was definitely worth it.

€3 entry for the public, €1.50 for students. Just like the Parque del Retiro, these gardens provide a calmer getaway from the noisier and consistently busy Paseo del Prado.

It was so lovely to be surrounded by so much greenery, and the trickle of the fountains adds an additional serene note, not unlike the gardens at the Reales Alcázares de Sevilla (Game of Thrones water gardens, anyone?) and the Generalife and the Palacios Nazaríes at the Alhambra in Granada.

On a hotter day especially, like the day I finally visited these gardens, the ample shade from the trees is an added bonus.

"Good lifts as you bleep your room card and put floor in and it picks out of 8 lifts best one to take! Roof access included so no need to que with the public just walk right in! Great location next to metro. Friendly helpful staff v clean and great breakfast. Only left a star off as terrace didnt have a great view so maybe check with hotel if you really want to be at the front ! "

Totally worth 13 EUR. Doorman very helpful, front desk, bartenders (rooftop bar open until midnite) all awesome staffing and very helpful. Location awesome in grand via -very walkable, safe neighborhood. "

"I absolutely loved our stay there! So many cute spaces, clean and staff so friendly. We were greeted with a complimentary drink at check in and ate at the restaurant 3 times. Convenient to have a bakery on site, bar onsite and the decor is so nice! The room was a good size, nice balcony and large shower. Overall the hotel was a highlight of the trip, could hang out there all day."

"Property is clean but too old that reflect on the condition of the rooms. Haven’t been updated recently. Staff were very pleasant. The are where is located makes it very difficult for a taxi pick up or drop up. My uber driver had to leave me next corner as he couldn’t park on the Main Street to avoid a ticket. "
