Beautiful Place, Better Staff!

We really enjoyed our two-night stay here at the Cleftstone Inn - in particular, a big shout-out to the staff, Anita, Marina, and Steffen. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the Bar Harbor area for restaurants and sightseeing recommendations. Although a short stay for us, we highly recommend staying here if you're going to Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park!

Absolutely amazing place to stay.

Absolutely wonderful bed and breakfast to stay at. My wife kept saying it was THE best part of her trip to Maine. Exceptional service from both the host and waitstaff during the gourmet breakfast. VERY comfortable bed that you could be in all day and obviously all night. Delicious breakfast and all day snacks.

Loved it!

We loved our stay at the Clefstone! The staff was so kind, helpful, and available for anything you might need. We loved the fresh afternoon snacks after coming back from hiking each day and fresh coffee in the morning. We stayed in room #1 and it was the perfect size with a very comfy bed. Would love to stay here again!

Beautiful renovated mansion. We stayed in the suite on the 3rd floor which had been the attic. The bathroom was gorgeous and the suite actually consisted of 4 small connected rooms. So much space, so many adorable windows and an absolutely amazing shower.

It's amazing that the house was once a single family home. We slept like a rock. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts were very good, the coffee could have been hotter though.

The Good: The room was a good size, clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good with excellent pressure. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good but limited. The baked goods at afternoon coffee time were great) It is about a mile walk into town. The Not so Good: There is no elevator. It does say so on the website, but we feel there should be more warning about how steep the stairs are to the upper levels. There are basically no facilities in the room. No wardrobe for hanging clothes (a portable rack was provided but not assembled), No tea/coffee making facilities, you have to wait for breakfast to be ready (8am). No glasses in the bathroom, no refrigerator (a shared one 3 floors below our room). Despite advertising daily housekeeping, our room was not cleaned during our stay. Coffee ran out at breakfast and was not replenished. We paid more than we originally intended because we were looking for that extra luxury, but for the price we paid, we were very disappointed and would have expected better.

Couple's Trip to Maine, Wonderful place and people

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the innkeeper, Steffan. What an amazing guy! Immediately made us feel welcomed and used his knowledge of the area to give us some great tips. Throughout the weekend, he and the staff working at Cleftstone were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room and its specially made wallpaper was absolutely beautiful. The breakfast served each morning was the perfect size and delicious both days. Although traveling from Boston can be a bit of a long drive, staying at the Cleftstone made the journey worth it. Thanks to Steffan and all the staff who work there for brilliant stay in Bar Harbor!

From beginning to end, my husband and I had a great experience at the Cleftstone Inn. The property is a lovely, well-maintained, historic manor located within walking distance to town. The room we stayed in felt very clean and was decorated with quality furniture. The staff were phenomenal, everyone we encountered were so friendly and helpful - you could tell they had a passion for their career. The innkeeper, Steffen, was fantastic! He personally showed us to our room, offered local recommendations and would always check in with us when we passed him in the hallways. Breakfast is offered daily and I can not say enough good things about it, they give you two options - savory or sweet and you can never go wrong with either. It is delicious, fresh, and served in generous portions. Tea time is offered in the evening where they have tea or coffee available with a small snack. 10/10 experience, I would definitely recommend you book your stay with Cleftstone!
