The Villa Dubois is very clean. Instructions were provided throughout the home and everything was self explanatory. The house is very spacious and provides privacy and amenities throughout the space. I enjoyed good nights rest and was only 5 minutes away from my business/church function. I highly recommend Villa Dubois. I will be back and look forward to renting again.

Run Away from it

If you have some extra money please do yourself a favor, run away from this place. It is not a hotel rather than a hostel and a terrible one. I don’t know where to begin with. First there is no service or person to talk, none whatsoever. There is no shampoo or basic hygiene amenities. The area where the hostel is located is unsafe and in the middle of nowhere. No shops are restaurants around. Also the person who was supposed to give us the get key lock number gave a new location addresss with a wrong keypad number and I was stuck at the front door for an indefinite amount of time. Also the sudden requirement to pay 500$ over PayPal was a scam like activity! Also the place had random people coming and going out all through the night. The rooms are not sound proof and I could not sleep whole night due to door noiss and step noise. The rooms are tiny and no proper window. Also the toilet was shared. With the price paid for three nights it is unbelievable how such a place is still running business in this platform. Avoid at any cost.

Once you book the room, they send you an email asking for a 500$ deposit to be sent to them via Venmo or PayPal in spite of this, not being mentioned before the booking. So you’re stuck between sending somebody you don’t know cash, and not to be allowed to check in.

I booked 2 rooms through hotels.com. They mentioned on their page on the Hotels.com site that they would take credit cards. Once I made the booking, they sent me an email asking for a 300-500$ deposit per room to be sent to them via venmo or paypal. When I refused to pay on the basis that this is unconventional, and that they mentioned that they would take credit cards, they refused to check me in after I showed up on time, and didn't refund my nights.

Great for what it is - a place to sleep

Just what I needed - a bed to sleep for a few hours. The building was very clean and quiet. I didn't see anyone else there, but I saw signs (a towel outside a door after some checked out, shoes left by the front door where there's a sign kindly asking us to remove our shoes). Make sure you read the check-in instructions. I missed a couple important details and had to finish them while waiting on the stoop, but it was very easy and the host was super-accommodating, understanding, and supportive. The sleeping quarters are not much larger than the bed, but I didn't need more. A great value as long as you manage your expectations.

Hostel not Hotel

It was not made clear to us or to other guests that there would be shared space with other guest. Shared bathroom and kitchen and television. Once we all figured it out evereything was fine but I think they should be more telling that it is more like a hostel then a hotel.

The property is in a decent location on the south side of Chicago. It's near Soldier Field with plenty of free street parking in front. We had difficulty getting into the house because the code I was given didn't work. We were lucky that some cleaning staff came to let us in. When I called to resolve it before we left to go to a concert, the manager changed the code and for a while, that one wasn't working either. She made it seem that I was at fault for the code not working. The room we stayed in was nice and large with a comfy bed. However, the shared bathroom didn't have a clean tub and they don't provide any hand towels.

My room & stay!

The rooms were nice & clean! The bathroom was clean. It was a bit chilly in the rooms but it was nice. I do take concern with property not answering phones at all! I suggest making sure the rooms are heated and cozy!

The propery was nice in regards to curb appeal, coming out of winter. The home had a lot of stairs to enter. The decor was nice and the open floor plan gave the house character. All rooms were located upstairs or downstairs. There are many stairs leading both ways. A recent surgery made going up and down those stairs painful. The house was spacious and misleading. There was no indication to notify renters that this is one big house with six bedrooms and you are renting a room. The room I rented was located in the basement and the door didn't seem secure. I was only there for a few nights and there was one other person so I wasnt on high alert. As the days passed more ppl began to arrive. It definitely gives college dormatory set up. Everything in the house is shared, except the bedroom. Take toiletries as the property does not provide soap, shampoo, etc. I was not able to view the available rooms and the room we lodged was too small for two ppl. Due to a lot of random traffic and rightfully so, we chose to leave a day earlier as a safety concern. Transparency would have been great from managment to understand the exact setup.
