Very basic but convenient hostel

Grey Nuns Residence is actually Concordia university apartment, centrally located in Montreal downtown, busy and very convenient, minutes walk to metro station. I lived in the 4/F., but it is top floor, very hot in this summer. For us, it is fine because we went out every day and back to our room after 10pm. But if you want to stay in the afternoon, go to find somewhere else. Room is really big, we had two single beds, two study desk with chairs, one washing basins, but no private bathroom, no A/c, common shower room, toilet, completely college feel, nothing luxury! Get key and self service. Beware of parkings are only available during weekdays, $10 all day( not bad), but not available during weekend. However, it is terribly to find parking during Friday & Sat nights.

Fascinating old building

This is a historic old building located right next to Guy Concordia metro. It is only open for about two months during summer. I stayed there about five times over the years.

Typical dorm room

This is basic accommodation in a spacious dorm room. You have a sink and fridge and a fan. No AC. There are stairs at the entrance. It was clean and quiet.

Séjour correct. Confort rudimentaire. Très chaud dans les chambres. Pas d'air conditionné. Douches communes correctes. Literie franchement pas agréable.

Will Always Stay Here in the Summer

I love it here. Stayed twice...once by myself and once with my wife. If you want a basic hotel (college dorm during the school year), this is it.

A dorm...and perfect!

We my wife and I LOVED it here! Highly recommended. This is a college dorm during the school year, and open to rent a room in the Summer. Think "dorm room" and you get the idea. But, it was perfect. Loved the whole experience...no extras that you don't want pay for anyway. And, on the same block and a parking garage that has the cheapest indoor parking that I know of in Montreal...$12 to park overnight. And, they have EV chargers if you have an EV. Also, on the next block is the metro station, along with some places to go to dinner or drinks. It really is a wonderful place for a basic stay. It's "nothing special," but, that's part of it's charm.

Great stay, except for the bed.

Great location, friendly accommodating staff, clean shared bathrooms. Stayed over August long weekend and was fine without AC. Disappointed the bed was not an actual mattress, but a thick gymnastic mat/foamie. Even for a 138lbs woman, not very comfortable. Would have appreciated knowing this before booking.

Don’t stay here

Absolutely disgusting. Rodents, showers don’t work properly. This place should be shut down by city officials. Staff is rude and militant. Area is unsafe. Homeless people everywhere

Great stay, great location.

Great location, nice room. No air-conditioning but with a cold shower and open the window with the fan it was fine. Bring earplugs.

Had a great time at grey nuns clean/historic stay

Don’t have ac as it’s an old building can’t be retrofitted but u are given a fan worked great-great old building right off at Catherine’s safest secure/sharedbathroom was not a problem very clean staff pleasant great for younger crowd but I’m 67 and met a few seniors there/-I-will return
