This a a beautiful location. Quite a unique experience for a hotel, and absolutely somewhere I'll be back. Not pet friendly, but thats okay. The whole setup is just the perfect island vacation location. I literally cannot say enough good stuff about this hotel.

What a wonderful surprise. Kona Kai did not disappoint in any category. Our room was beautiful. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. The pool was pristine. It’s a short drive to the beach and some wonderful places to dine. We will definitely stay here again.

Although one can visit the sister property to do laundry, I wish the motel had an onsite washer and dryer to help guests who need to change clothes due to the amount of sand and salt at the beaches. I wish the motel's TV did not turn off at times, necessitate unplugging and replugging the power cord and cable. I wish the motel room had a safe and have bins for recycling. I do appreciate being in a dedicated building for my room, the unique keypad for locking and unlocking the door, the availability of a microwave oven and mini-fridge, the presence of utensils and paper towels, the lighting on the bathroom mirror, the presence of an induction stove/hotplate, the unique alarm clock and bowls and plates. I wish there was a ramp to the door for those transporting large luggage and who are handicapped.

Excellent location close to restaurants and supermarket. Friendly and efficient staff on reception. Very comfortable bed with lovely clean, white sheets. Queen room was overall quite basic and a little tired but very functional.

Really great except....

The Kona Kai has clean, nicely furnished rooms and a great pool. The bathroom was tiny but clean. Their contact with us prior to the stay was excellent. I was just disappointed that our room shared a thermostat with the front desk office. The temperature was just too cold for comfort and we didn't enjoy our stay as much as we would have. I would stay again but not in the Tahiti room.

Overall, a great stay. Two things I'm suggesting. Rental #3 One: There's a sign in the bathroom that states please reuse your bath towels. Too help the environment. I get it and totally agree. It would help if we had hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. Since there's no place to put them. 2: There's a very large sofa in the living room. Looks great! BUT it's not a sofa. It's some kind of futon or bed. Laying down on it is fantastic. Sitting on it to watch TV is absolutely impossible. There was no way to get comfortable.
