Country hotel W Chillington

Very easy early check in with luggage to be delivered to room when ready. Unfortunately message not passed on so with late arrival at 10.15pm and desk closed unable to access luggage and medications etc, and no response to telephone call as unstaffed after 10pm. Bar closed too. Room very comfortable and good continental breakfast. Very comfortable country hotel.

Needs improving

Hotel could do with refreshing in all areas. Very little sound proofing in annex rooms. No cold mains on the menu even though it's a heatwave! Wifi and phone signal patchy

Disappointing in some areas

We stayed here a few years ago and have been meaning to come back as it was so lovely and felt that one night wasn't enough last time, however, I booked two rooms, both the same price, my brother and his wife were located in the main building whilst ours was outside in what I assume was an old stable block, the room, although a little tired was nice but the the outlook awful. There was a hedge hiding a sitting area, which was grubby and looked onto a disused freezer, hose pipes and other industrial appliances, added to this, we were opposite the kitchen and storage rooms. The rest of the block had a much nicer outlook. We enjoyed the garden, food and the service was friendly although it would have been good to have someone on the front desk when we checked out. Like my title suggests, there were good and some disappointing things to say about our stay.

This is a wonderful old hotel with lovely old beams and lots of nooks and crannies, room was great, staff were great and food was great. An ideal base for Arundel and the South Downs.

It was a great place to stay, excellent customer service. The room was clean and warm. A very unique hotel. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny

Very comfortable stay. Food was great a d especially the breakfast. Only one concern to note. There are 2 rooms that adjoin the main stairs, and both get all the noise from downstairs through the evening and specially later on as voice's get louder after a few bevvies have been consumed. Even after last orders people go to the lounge and continue with even louder voices. And tbis room is directly below one of these rooms. This makes for a noisy stay in certain rooms because there are no courteous notices to advise and respect for other guests after 11pm.

Excellent value for money

A very comfortable 2night stay at this hotel. Set in an interesting architectural area and very close to several places to visit. We had a couple of issues with the room on arrival but they were quickly and efficiently sorted by the very helpful charming staff. The food was excellent particularly Sunday night dinner, breakfast was also good. Comfy bed and huge quirky rooms
