Positives:
Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially as we had booked the last room and requested a bed without a footboard. The room was warm on arrival, well presented, and nicely equipped with good-quality bedding, towels, and toiletries. Subtle lighting, a spacious shower, and thoughtful touches such as slipper mules were appreciated. Checkout at 11am was convenient, and parking was sheltered during freezing temperatures. The pub is in a pretty Wiltshire village.
Negatives:
The bathroom smelled strongly of human faeces on arrival despite being clean, suggesting poor ventilation. Cobwebs were visible on the walls and ceiling in the evening lighting. Traffic and neighbouring room noise were noticeable. The rainfall shower lacked a handheld hose. The mattress was very uncomfortable, dipping in the middle and causing poor sleep. An unsettling picture in the room made my partner feel insecure. The rooms are not quiet being on a main road.
Access:
Room 5 can be accessed via steps from the pub or a ramped route around the building, which was the easier option.
