Nice location, river view room was great. Only issue for the room facing the main road, a bit noisy. Overall great price to stay

The room had a balcony that overlooked the river and hills

Great stay , hospitality second to none , over & above, ( even included a lift into town ) exceptional , down to earth hotel , no whistles or bells , but that is wasn’t expected for the price either. Definitely recommend !

Stayed for one night whilst visiting Abergavenny for hiking. Friendly staff and great location with views over river. Room was clean and shower pressure good with plenty of hot water. Had a tasty sausage sandwich for breakfast the next morning.

Wonderful views of river in foreground and hills in background.

6/10 Good

Stayed as a base for motorbike tour. Ideal location with secure motorcycle parking. The hotel is a 'work in progress'. Rooms functional but basic. Staff friendly and accommodating

8/10 Very good

We had a very comfortable stay and the hosts were very helpful with any of our queries. They have done a great job seeing as they have recently taken over the property. Will definitely stay there again and look forwards to seeing their progress. Great location for ease of sightseeing and the views from the hotel beautiful.

8/10 Very good

Fantastic staff, location and price. The food we had was very good. The place has recently been taken over and is in need of updating, the new owners acknowledge this on their website, this is reflected in then reasonable price they are charging at the moment. Despite this there is a high level of cleanliness. I wish them well in their endeavour and look forward to coming back next year!

6/10 Good

Great location and tasty breakfast, large room, clean beds. Rubbish left in the bin, carpet gripper exposed and unsafe at bathroom door and corridor outside room. Also thin walls, doors and people heard, noisy traffic from the road 10ft away, river view side probably better.

Nice place, but no hot water

We found out quite late we have no hot water. We called the staff who said they'll see what can be done and call us right back. They never called. I the morning, when we asked again for the water to be repaired, they tried a few things and said they should be OK in about 10 minutes. We waited 30. Nothing happened, so we gave up. Also, the closet door was missing a screw and the door came apart.

2/10 Poor

The website explains that the pricing is lower as there is new management so there is work to be done, and appreciate that a project does take time. The photos are not all of this property and are inaccurate. One night a party was taking place in the cafe bar and thumping music penetrated the hotel until gone midnight. I wrote a message via the website and hotels.com asking them to turn it down as it was unreasonable at such an hour. The same night, about 2:15 a dog started barking and did not stop. After about 20 minutes my husband went to check the situation as no one could sleep and another guest was also looking to understand the distress of the dog- the owner was in the bar and had left the dog alone…they then proceeded to leave the dog again about 15 minutes later and the barking resumed. It was a truly appalling experience with no regard for the hotel guests at all. The room was in a poor state of repair: The walls have several holes where things have clearly been taken down and not replaced. The bathroom is old and worn but functional and good pressure. The mattress is soft but comfortable and the duvet and linen good, but the pillows are very flat. In three nights there was no housekeeping, not even the rubbish was removed. It says bedding and towels in request which we didn’t need as we were out during the days, but to not even empty the bin is an absolute basic. It’s not cheap and cheerful. It’s cheap and not even an acceptable standard. AVOID.
