It started badly from the get-go.
I had notified the property that we would be arriving very late, got there it was 1:00 am. I had sent messages and called four times with no response. No surprise that when we arrived the person could barely speak English and did not understand us. They had no room key, having to use the master key which they kept.
This hotel offered as space for five people. True there were five beds -two twin beds into a 12x12 space where you can barely walk around them, and an upstair loft with another twin and a full. You could not even stand upright because the ceiling was so low, everyone was slouched over. We immediately pulled back the blankets looking for bed bugs. The Linens were clean and smelled like bleach which was the only good aspect.
Everything else in the room was dirty. It was a first floor room with the window open wide enough for somebody to come in. We closed it, locking the shutters.
In the bathroom, there were dead bugs on the floor, shower, and stuck to the wall. Long black hair in the shower! Unfinished spackle patchwork on the bathroom wall.
Young people hanging around outside, laughing and carrying on, making us very uncomfortable and felt unsafe. I immediately told the management this is unacceptable, that we were canceling and want a refund!
