Our Stay in Rome

Location was excellent and in the middle of everything. Staff were helpful and recommended some great places to visit and how to get there. Breakfast was good and was a buffet. Wifi was excellent.

Amazing place to stay, so close to lots of great places and also restaurants, or shops:-) breakfast was tasty and fresh. Room was comfortable and clean, we had a junior suite, only important thing to know there is that was no connection doors between 2 bedrooms, which might not work for everyone.

Exactly the Rome we wanted to see

I was looking for a nice hotel but with a local feel and this was exactly what i found here. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family. We stayed for five days. Everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome. Every time we walked in we were greeted by name and with a smile. The room and bathroom were much bigger than i expected. Our room overlooked the piazza and every evening we had music playing right outside the window. The atmosphere was magical. With the windows open the tall buildings turned it into an amphitheater. With the windows closed it was completely quiet in the room. The music stopped about 10:30 every night and there was no problems sleeping. Tons of shops and restaurants everywhere around. We walked almost everywhere but there were taxis and public transportation close by. We felt safe everywhere we went. There is a small breakfast room with plenty of choices to start the day. My wife really enjoyed the violinist. This was exactly the Rome we wanted to see.

Very disappointing

Checking in the woman was very nice but that was the last time we saw her…we were giving a WhatsApp number that no one answers. We called and text. Room was never cleaned and we didn’t have the do not disturb sign up. We consistently tried to contact the front desk which no one was never there. The bathroom is full of mold and smells like it too. Mold is throughout the whole shower lining and the bathroom floor floods. Housekeeping is also the chef of the place. Breakfast was disgusting. Food was stale. I contacted Hotels.com and they weren’t able to get in contact with them either. I brought my partner to Rome for our engagement and birthday and I am beyond embarrassed and disgusted. This hotel should really be ashamed of themselves for this daunting experience. The fact that we STILL haven’t heard from the hotel tells you everything.

The woman that checked us in was so nice. After that, it went down hill. She was done at 8 pm that day then after that… it was a really daunting experience. We were given a WhatsApp number that no one answers. Privacy sign was not up on the door. Room stayed dirty until check out. Bathroom was FULL of mold. The trimming and shower had the most and leaks really bad through the doors.. The housekeeper is also the chef. Breakfast was disappointing as well. Also there’s no place to leave your bags/luggage..Contacted hotels.com and they couldn’t get ahold of them either. We continuously tried to reach out and no luck. Not how we wanted to spend my partners birthday and our engagement. I’m pretty embarrassed for booking this place to celebrate us and the hotel should be really be ashamed of themselves.

Misrepresentation

The hotel was terrible and the room completely disgusting. Overlooking the garbage. Breakfast was in the basement and terrible. Room looked nothing like on the website. Can't believe they would charge that much for this hostel like room which should he $50

Stay here!! Location is amazing! Everything is walkable. The hotel is an old building but has so much charm and everything you could want for your stay. The stand out for sure is the staff. All the reviews I read talked about Monica. Well they were all right. She is amazing!!! From helping us navigate Rome to restaurant suggestions to train tickets! I can’t say enough!! Thank you!!

Staff was super friendly and helped with reservations and taxi needs. Room was quite large and spacious. The only downside was the shower/tub. The shower head made it to where you had to get really close to the front edge of the tub to get it to go over your head. The shower half door wasn’t sealed well so water would spill out and the tub was so deep that it was difficult to step out without worrying about falling. Overall we would definitely stay there again.

We absolutely loved staying at the Relais Maddalena during our recent trip to Rome. The staff was great and their hospitality was excellent. We loved the location of being able to walk to the Pantheon and Trivi Fountain as well as the shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back!

I liked the location. Some of the staff were pleasant. I did not like no elevator. There were 23 steps we had to go up and down each time we went out. We had to drag our luggage down the steps when we left the hotel. The room decor left a lot to be desired. In my opinion the place was one step above a dump.
