Resort a few minutes from town

Location was good - right off Hwy 1 off Bow Valley Pkwy… restaurant onsite, Blake’s Brewery next door and 15-min walk to downtown. Room #283 in annex bldg (some covered parking), TV wouldn’t work, shower barely drained, A/C on full blast or must unplug, tiny balcony, 2 double beds were fairly comfortable, mini fridge & I wish I had known that the room had a microwave.

Poor experience, poor room

When we walked in the room it smelt old, musky, mouldy strong. The AC was not working. 2 men came to fix it, which drew out some of the smell. My friend called ahead of time to have wine ready for us when we arrived, as she wanted to surprise me for my birthday, it was not there. There was no hot water for our shower, we did mention this to the front desk the next day. We were busy out and about all day, we didnt know if we had hot water or not so we showered at the pool. We also asked for towels for our room and they said they would bring them but did not. Our last evening we noticed the AC leaking water, pooling on the floor, we had towels soaking up the water, it appeared worse in the morning, we went to go tell the front desk. Hoping to get a discount for our not so nice stay. We had let them know we would like a discount and were told they would email once they knew how much of a discount they could give within a couple of hours. I have yet to get that email.

Wait till construction is done.

The construction was not great. When I booked through hotels.com there was no mention of it being under construction. The rooms were dated. The “awesome shower” didn’t work like it was supposed to. I was there 5 years ago and loved it.

Many things need to be fixed. Tiles coming off, snobs missing , cleaning wasn’t up to par. Coffee table was filthy, mole in the washrooms , old couch needs to be replaced. The shampoo didn’t even smell good. Having to ask for towels was too much of a process.

Avoid the Annex

When you enter the annex, the dark lighting and stained carpets are immediately off-putting. Although the room seemed fairly clean, it had a strange smell that didn’t go away. There was a second door opening to the road where we found a pump pulling water from the ditch. Thankfully it wasn’t loud, but may have been part of the smell.

Disappointing stay

Under construction and they do not tell you this until after you book a non refundable room. Amenities were lacking, tv didn’t work and guy who came to look at it had no clue. Bathroom not all that clean and loud with kids running around. This is not the first time we’ve had a not so great stay here. The front desk staff were lovely and accommodated as much as they could. Location is also good.

Awesome 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo unit for a 3-night stay with a friend flying in from out of province. Unit was very well kept and clean, considering its age and the amount of turnover occupancy. Standard things to be expected like dents on coffee tables and chips on furniture. A/C was not working. Front Desk didn’t say anything about it despite a post-it note on top of my room reservation saying “check with maintenance that A/C is working” that they crumpled up and threw out. I came to the front desk after checking in to report it. HVAC came to the room 3 hours later to repair it. The town of Canmore also had a power outage for a couple hours during our stay, luckily I went back to bed after talking to the Front Desk that it wasn’t just our unit or the hotel. Awesome location, great hotel for families or large groups. Felt like an apartment and very comfy. Gym was small but serviceable. We did not use the waterslide or hot tub but I’ve stayed at the Annex Building many times and it’s enjoyable. Renovations were taking place so the hallways were gutted. The parking garage can be confusing which spots are available for hotel guest and which spaces are owned for condo owners.

I could tell they had done some updates to the annex building which was nice, but the showers didn't have any ledges for soaps etc, and the doors are not stroller/handicap accessible. The front door has a button that doesn't work and the side door you must enter has two doors in succession which is very difficult to get through with a stroller or wheelchair. The restaurant connected to the main building was nice and the food was great. Didn't have enough time to enjoy the pools but they looked lovely

Blinds make no sense. They don't cover the whole window so lots of light comes in. The fridge isn't level.so it wobbles a lot. Bed was comfy and room clean. Service was ok, only 1 front desk agent, so we had to wait a while. Its defintly overpriced for what you get. No early check in available.
