Great stop off location for nc500
One night stop while traveling the nc500 with my son. The apartment was spotless, and looked like it had recently refurbished.
It was perfect for our needs.

Accomodation on the very edge of town. Roads to it very poor with numerous huge pot holes, if i hadn't been driving a 4x4 i would have turned back!
Apartment on the first floor accessed via unmanned communal hall, staircase and landing with numerous apartments of them. Whilst we saw no-one in these areas in our comings and goings, my partner commented that she felt unsafe and would not leave the apartment without me.
This is fine for single males while working in the area and should be described as such
We will be coming back to Wick and the surrounding area but will not be staying here.

When we walked into the entrance we were greeted with cigarette butts all over the floor and an overwhelming smell of ‘weed’! This was instantly worrying but we went to our room which had a modern lock on it. The apartment itself was clean and basic but we already felt uneasy after the drive through the area and the welcome.
We thought we would persevere so went back to the car to unload but as I walked back in with my youngest son a man was hovering around saying the code had been changed and could we let him in. I felt totally intimidated and had no choice to let him in whilst trying to shield the code from him.
By this point my anxiety was already at a high so we thought we would take the dog for a walk and get fresh air but again there was some unsavoury characters nearby and I couldn’t take it anymore. We honestly felt like it was some type of halfway house and had to pack up and leave! I have never left any accommodation in all my years of travelling but there was no way I could sleep here with my children.
I contacted the hosts immediately to let them know and he was very apologetic and by the time we walked back out someone had been to the entrance and sprayed something to mask the smell. That’s not good enough in my opinion.
I did request a full refund as this impacted our trip massively and we had to fork out quite a chunk for another accommodation that night but we’ve only been given 50% back which I don’t think is fair considering what happened.

We actually got moved to the Norseman Hotel as We felt the approach to the property was not the best as loads of pot holes in the road.
The property looked like it had been a nursing home, it needed some landscaping outside we felt the security was not good as the main door which was not signposted was open and the room that we were given was unlocked and the door looked like it had had a letter box which was boarded up.
The room was clean and tidy but it looked as if nobody was there to help as I personally did not feel it was safe to stay in because of unlocked doors.
