Air con was broke in the room and it was very cold. Reported this to reception but was told it was broken in all rooms. I have stayed there before and will stay again but this was a very uncomfortable night in a very cold room

The first room we got was so damp and smelled so damp, and the A/C wasn’t working, so they moved us to a different room the next day and gave us a complimentary breakfast which was nice. The next room was equally damp, and smelled equally as bad, but at least the A/C was working. Both rooms were in the basement, so there it wasn’t possible to open a window and get fresh air in…. The rooms were dirty, and there was mold in the bathrooms. The fans in the bathrooms weren’t working either, so after a shower the room was so damp, and no way to air out… Overall the stay wasn’t very good, and the best part was checking out.

The reception staff were nice and very helpful. I booked in order to attend Christmas services at the Temple Church so my unexpected view of the church from my window (room 221) was a real plus. The price was reasonable and I realise of course that this is not a luxury place; I understand, too, that they only service the room on alternate days. That's fine - but only once in my five-night stay? I expected better. The room had everything needed - comfortable bed, excellent bathroom ... but I felt the lay-out could have been better thought through, even though the room is small. Main problem? I read a lot and the lighting just wasn't good for that. Also - no bedside power or USB point. All that said, it's a very good place to base yourself, with lots of public transport options nearby - and plenty of interesting places to visit (not least the famous and beautiful Temple Church). My room (at the back of the hotel) was very quiet indeed - though I was woken on Christmas morning by the merry shouts of the choristers arriving for their pre-service practice! The breakfast (extra cost) is OK but not wildly exciting. Slightly cheaper if you book it on arrival at Reception rather than paying in the (small) restaurant/eating area. In short, it's not perfect, but I would (I shall!) stay here again.

Great room, extremely attentive and helpful staff. There was an issue with my room - basically they didnt have the room I booked and gave me a smaller room. When we discussed reimbursement, I asked if I could just get breakfast comped to make up for the difference and the staff did not provide it officially so every morning I had to explain the situation.
