I thought it would be better to move to the Radisson on New Year’s Eve. Wow, what a total mistake! Slow, confusing, and disorganized service. When I arrived, I was offered either a New Year’s Eve dinner or a reservation at the hotel restaurant. I chose the restaurant and asked them to book a safari for the next day, but I needed information because I would be leaving the hotel at 11 a.m.
After two hours past my reservation time, I still had to wait another 20 minutes just to get information. Meanwhile, they told me the reservation didn’t exist and kept asking, “But for how many people? All day? Who booked it for you? We don’t have that here.”
Remember the hotel I booked for the dinner? The plan was for them to pick me up at 8 p.m. No one showed up. I went to one of the hotel restaurants to ask if it was there, they said no. I went to reception, and no one knew anything. Finally, someone took me to my reservation and, guess what, it was the very same restaurant I had asked at the beginning.
At that restaurant, I had to look for a table myself, get up to grab a menu, walk to the bar to order food, get up to ask if it would take long, and get up again to ask for the bill.
Checkout day bonus. They hadn’t booked my game drive. It took 1 hour for them to find me a new one. So I waited in the lobby from the agreed time (5 a.m.) until 6 a.m. And finally, at checkout, I informed them that there had been an accident and I broke a glass, and they charged me 200 rand.
