Very close to shops

6/10 Good

Well located, inexpensive accommodation in Newcastle. But does need renovation of its bathroom facilities.
Gregory, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Comfortable beds, clean room, quiet at night for our little family and very lovely accommodating staff. There was a couple of cockroaches in the men’s bathroom/showers and they were unclean too. Main corridor upstairs was a little smelly (fishy), but great otherwise. There is off-street parking out back - first in, first serve.
Felicity, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Good nice clean, the building had cute architecture and good pub underneath. The shared bathrooms were pretty average but fair enough for the price
Darcie, 1-night trip

Every thing is perfect
Reza, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Boutique with good alcohol option. Accommodation was true pub style just needs a bit more lighting on door key pads.
Malcolm, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Very clean for an old hotel. Staff friendly. Suited our needs. Windows in need of a repair.
Helen, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Greg, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The bed was fresh and comfortable but I totally expected there to be a towel.
Sharyn, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Check-in was good. We were allowed early check-in. The room was ok but the toilet was not well cleaned in all 3 days of our stay. Too loud music from the pub below.
Tarun, 3-night trip

4/10 Fair

Noisy…… staff not helpful
John, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Some smell at the toilet, it should be more clean.
Miki, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Room was covered in bugs and cockroaches. Stains everywhere from where they have been previously squashed.
Dan, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Overpriced for what is was - it was not obvious when booking that bathroom and toilet facilities were shared. bedside lamp was broken and lying on floor. However the beds were comfy and clean and it was a convenient location for our night out. Would not stay there again at that price and it was too noisy (until 12 when music stopped) but this was expected being a pub.

2/10 Poor

A terrible experience in The Young Street hotel

The lock was out-of-order on the second day, they forgot to send an email to me for the check-in instruction There is no windscreen which has many insects in our room The air-conditioner is dirty The light-sensor is terrible
Harrison, 2-night trip

was not cleaned

2/10 Poor

Upon arrival, the room has unpleasant smell, opened the windows for a while and smell still the same. We got 2 beds and 3 pillow cases were obviously not changed, it has smell too. One top sheet not changed too. Did not sleep there.
Laura, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Got directed to a room, check in staff nice, room was easy to access with no dramas apart from general common space cleanliness upstairs. Went into my room and there were rubbish bags, empty cigarette boxes, leftover alcohol/rubbish, a messy bed, and dead moths. The room had been like that a while and nobody has checked on it. I went back downstairs and the staff apologised and gave me a code for a different room. This one was much nicer, clearly ready for a guest. A few hours later someone opens my door as I’m about to leave for this evening. They were told they’d booked this room and were given the door code by the staff downstairs. I had to go down again to fix it up. Aside from the shared bathroom spaces that I avoided entirely (with good reason), the room was nice and functioned as advertised. The staff are lovely, and the downstairs area is really great, with good vibes good food and great setup, I just think the hotel part of the young street hotel needs a little more TLC. I hope managers see this and it helps them identify ways of improving cleanliness and organisation/coordination.
