Disgusting disappointment!

If you have standards at all, I do not recommend staying here! Did not appear to be in the safest area. Check in went well and the place smelled ok when you first walked in. They must of had something freshening the air in the lobby, because that's where it stayed. This was supposed to be a non-smoking establishment, but once you got past the lobby you were bombarded with stale cigarettes and marijuana. There were some pretty major cracks in the tile in the elevator. Literally shifted the floor under our feet making a loud clanking noise. The room was less than expected. Even with the dim lighting you could see it was gross. The bottom of the bath tub was absolutely disgusting. I thought it was a dirty bath mat, but no...it was staining from mold and mildew that had built up over time underneath a bath mat that hadn't been moved in some time. There were holes in the wall by the light sconces, and popcorn ceiling was peeling just outside the bathroom and along the outer wall of the room near the bed and window. The dresser that housed the fridge had the door ripped off and it just looked trashy. Don't even get me started on the complimentary breakfast. They were stingy with the breakfast. Putting limited supplies out then standing there watching as everyone went for the cereal since that was what was left. Limiting the waffle mix to a few half full cups at a time then ignoring the station altogether while there was a line waiting. We will never stay at another Comfort Inn!

Not what it appears

Upon first glance, hotel looked very clean. Staff were very friendly. Once headed up to room, elevators were in poor condition (actually was stuck in one briefly). Mold was visible on ceiling in hallways, light fixtures were missing, ice machines were broken and strong deodorizer odor throughout hotel. Room was also very loud due to traffic outside and the air conditioner unit.

When booking on Expedia the picture had shown that there was a Jacuzzi tub when I had checked in and asked about it the front desk told me because I booked with Expedia that I was not available to get the Jacuzzi room and that if I wanted to be charged an extra full amount to get the Jacuzzi room then I could. As it is the same King suite with a living room as I had booked. The front staff asked me multiple times how much I paid for my room. And seem to very annoyed that I booked online with a different company. The only reason I stayed at this hotel was to enjoy personal time prior to a very important day ahead of me. Otherwise I would’ve stayed at a different hotel. There’s an overwhelming smell from multiple cleaning products used and the smell of marijuana throughout the hallways. The shower had low pressure and the showerhead pipe was coming out of the wall.

The only negatives were that the fixtures, including a lamp and the bathtub, were worn. Other than that, the manager Jose was really kind and the bed was super comfy. The TV was a treat, with an uber-large screen and multiple channels. The housekeeping was good and the amenities what I have come to expect from Comfort Inn. The breakfast is always a perk at Comfort Inn. I recommend they swap out that dirty or worn lamp by the bed. I wasn't sure if it was grit and grime or just wear and tear.
Meriden Train station. You can also catch buses outside, including one to the motel if you like.
