Affordable boutique style hotel.

Coyote South was a pleasure! The decor was charming, similar to a boutique hotel. The decor was amazing and stylishly southwestern. The free breakfast was homemade and delicious! The staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend staying if you're in Santa Fe.

NEVER EVER AGAIN

The outside is rundown. The inside is cute enough. HOWEVER, we will NEVER EVER go here again. I would literally sleep in a car or on a park bench in a snow storm rather than staying here. There was no one at the front desk EVER. There were self-check in tablets. I got an error message and was trying again when a tall man with long stringy hair came up behind us without warning and angrily said, "I'll do it. That one doesn't work." Ok, so put a sign on it. I could see he was angry that he had to work, so I complimented his deep voice. He didn't even smile. He reeked of marijuana. I don't have a problem with the use of MJ and think it should be legal everywhere, but maybe not at work. We got to the room and the a/c was barely working. I figured it would cool off while we were at dinner, so we left it running and went to eat. When we got back and were walking to our room, the creepy and grumpy man suddenly stuck his head out of a completely dark room and said, "oh hi" and slammed the door. For 2 women traveling it was creepy! We hurried to our room and locked the door and it was still over 80 degrees in our room. Long story short, he refused to move us to a new room. He refused to say whether or not he would refund our stay so we could go somewhere with a/c. He called someone on his iphone who he said was the manager who began screaming at me and "you will sleep in the room tonight." We left and I called hotels.com the next morning.

The bad thing is they put us in a room that had a broken door and to latch the door wasn't even attached it was hanging on by 1 screw and plus it smelled like smoke even though they said there is no smoking allowed ....I don't think I would recommend this hotel until they got a remodel or something

Dirty & Musty

I would not recommend this hotel for the price. The room smelt terrible, musty, damp on the first floor. The room was very small and poorly renovated, you could tell it used to be a Super 8. They put a lot of effort into renovating the lobby but the actual rooms were one-star quality. I think a lot of the reviews must be inflated because it did not have any of the redeeming qualities other reviewers mention. Overall I'm pretty disappointed that we tried to stay at this more "unique" hotel when we could have gone to a cheaper and more reliable chain across the street.

Nice lobby, but the place is old as heck.

Pictures online were good. I’m fine with a solid 3 star property but this one was well past its prime. The furniture in the room was ROUGH. I’m fine with pets but there was barking throughout the property and off and on all night long. Also, because they have the standard wall ac units, when people smoke pot outside in the parking lot, it wafts up and through the intake and into your room. We are not from a state where marijuana is legalized so we woke up multiple times through the night to this bad smell. The carpet, while clean was gross and when your tv remote is in a plastic baggie thing, it really makes you question things. Oh, and when we arrived at our room for the first time, the door was open and with the ac unit off so it smelled very musty. The breakfast burrito was fantastic and the front desk guy was actually really nice. Even though he sat in his chair wearing a shirt saying “anti social”, he quickly agreed to cancel the 2nd night for us and explained it would take up to 7 days for a refund for that night. It’s not all bad, but maybe just not nice enough for us at this stage in our lives. The price was attractive and the online photos sealed the deal for us. But, there’s more than what meets the eye.

You get what you pay for

Beds were uncomfortable, had lots of hair strands under the blanket and on and inside the pillow sheet. You can hear road noise depending on which room you get. Needs some updating, breakfast burritos were very good, excellent rates but you get what you pay for. Also housekeeping never went to my room despite asking during my stay.

Not bad for the price.

The room was rather small with only 1 chair. There was 2 of us so made it uncomfortable. No decaf coffee in the room or at breakfast. The burritos were good. The bed was nice. Bathroom somewhat clean.

Not worth the hassle

It was relatively clean but rundown. The bed was comfortable but the bathtub was creaky and loud. There were stains all over the carpet and it felt sticky in some places. I also had to check out early and was told that I would not be charged for the three nights that I was unable to stay, which would have totaled $508.50. But after a lot of going round and round with hotels.com, they are now saying that they can only refund “two nights” at $176.40. According to my receipt, two nights would have been at least $292.50. I do NOT recommend this hotel.

Nice place!

An older property, but in really good shape. Our room was clean, spacious and decorated well. The check-in experience was a little bit weird. I think they need to revamp the "advanced check in" e-mail they send out one and two days before check-in, because it actually confused us to the point of wondering whether we actually had a reservation there. I ended up making an extra phone call to the hotel, just to be sure. Certainly doable, but it started us off with a poor impression of the hotel. But we survived that, and everything else was great.
