The Center Hotel by Avera McKennan Hospital

The location of the hotel is what we needed, walking distance to the hospital. Also offered breakfast. The front desk staff the first night was very helpful and so kind. We really appreciated her.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Our floors were damp. When asked clerk said they shampooed them that morning. Right next to hospital.

I’m unsure why I was charged 200$ upon leaving. There is a 100$ deposit fee. Which seems to have been taken twice? Despite bringing it to the receptionists attention that our room seemed vandalized by the last people. (Soap or something was crammed into the peephole when we arrived) he said we would be fine. So I’m wondering why there’s 200$ charge

Overall, a great stay with friendly desk clerk.

The front desk staff was refreshingly pleasant! After driving for 11+ hours (just me & my dog), it was so nice to be greeted by the friendly front desk clerk & checked in with ease. For the building being so old, it’s well maintained & everything worked. My only suggestion for comfort-related improvement is to change how they prepare the pillows; which were condensed in the pillow cases to half their size. I had to release each pillow to soften them & the stuffing was very lumpy. However, I still slept great; as the mattress was perfect! The room was very spacious, and included a comfortable armchair & ottoman, which is different from most hotel room seating.

Perfect for a quick stop through

Overall hotel was decent. location away from the downtown but easy to it all. Rooms are much better than the hall and lobby suggests. Bed was way too soft. I don't mind a soft bed but this was difficult to get onto. Door to bathroom didn't fully latch. Staff was warm and welcoming. Didn't try the breakfast.

Nice hotel

The place was dated but clean and quiet and the bed was comfortable. For the price, it was great for an overnight stay. The down sides were there was no hot breakfast (just cereal and bagels and cheap fruit) and the pillows were almost too thick. If you are the type of person who is very picky about your pillows then you'll probably want to bring your own pillow to this hotel. But again, for the cheap price, this was a great hotel for an overnight stay.
