Stayed here as we were working at a local show. You pay for what you get but I felt like I’d been transported to 1975. This hotel has not been touched since the 70s. The decor is questionable. Parking is awful and all double yellows on the street. The check in was quick and smooth which is the only good thing about it. Pipes running under the floors which means the room is boiling. Room is not cleaned to the best standards. Mould in bathroom. Beds hard and uncomfortable. Holes all over the carpets, gouges in doors and woodwork. The entire hotel and corridors all stink of cigarettes. You had the option of choosing a smoking room when we booked, who still has smoking rooms? Even Vegas have stopped it in most places. Gaffer tape on stairs in reception holding them together. Lift looks like the original lift and could fall apart at any time.
Pros - it was cheap. We weren’t there for long enough to worry too much about it. Beds were clean. Staff friendly. If you want a cheap bed for the night it’s fine but this isn’t somewhere I’d ever stay again. Typical old Britannia hotel.
