Amamos nossas férias!

Amamos nossos dias no Riu, fomos super bem atendidos, lugar maravilhoso. O mar não estava tão limpo, havia mto sargaço mas isso não é culpa do hotel! A comida é “medio” os restaurantes temáticos o que mais gostamos foi o Italiano e o Steak! Adoramos as festas no Riu Patty, é meu bebê amou o Riu Splash. Num geral foi mto bom

Is not what you see

The hotel is large, but you can get there without needing transportation, as some say. The pool, beach, and restaurants are close by, so you don't have to constantly go back and forth. It's very convenient. The rooms are large and spacious, the beds are comfortable, and so is the bathroom. The room is clean, and the hotel is generally fine. The activities are varied, but the staff isn't very proactive when it comes to calling people or respecting game schedules; they show up when they remember. The buffet food is plentiful, and the lounge is spacious. The bad thing: In general, Dominicans tend to respond politely at first; when you ask them something again, they do so with reluctance. They don't like to work, unlike in Mexico, where they always treat you well and are super friendly. Here, they're rude, as they say. But overall, I don't think it's the hotel's problem. They don't have waiter service at the pool, beach, or bars. They take your empty glasses away, but don't bring you anything. It's very inconvenient. All the restaurants are buffets, so even if you wait for the Mexican, Italian, or Japanese restaurant, it's a buffet. Arrive before 7:30 because then they tell you it's full and they close. I don't understand the need, because it's a buffet anyway, and they have food and space. The steakhouse is the only one that isn't a buffet, and even then you have to wait, and they only give you a couple of things. I’m continuing in goggle because Hear is not enough please read

The grounds of RIU Bambu are very scenic and well-maintained, and the layout of the resort is spacious and walkable. However, that’s where the positives ended for me. The rooms are quite outdated, and basic amenities were lacking the phone in our room didn’t work, washcloths were hard to get, and the TV only showed Spanish channels. The food was subpar at best. Out of our 7-day stay, we only enjoyed about 3 dishes. The drinks were watered down and lacked any real flavor or strength. The pool situation was a major turnoff. Guests were allowed to smoke in the pool, and it didn’t seem like the pools were cleaned regularly. Music and entertainment heavily catered to the Spanish-speaking crowd, and most announcements were only made in Spanish. It didn’t feel inclusive. Some staff members seemed to pretend not to speak English, and there was a constant push for tips even when the service was minimal. While I understand tipping is common, it felt excessive and uncomfortable here. All in all, RIU Bambu has potential with its beautiful property, but the service, food, and cleanliness need serious improvement. I wouldn’t return.

I didn’t like the maid service I had to tell them to give me fresh towels all they did was when they clean my room fold my dirty towels. Then I also booked because it has entertainment every night but I don’t speak Spanish and they talked in nothing but Spanish they could of said it in Spanish then English afterwords so pretty much after I eat my dinner me and my boyfriend didn’t have nothing else to do. The food was good though they fruits was all fresh and juicy I loved the staff in the restaurants and some of the front desk staff. They don’t have elevator

Necesita mantenimiento en las habitaciones las toma de electricidad no funcionan y en las habitaciones hay peste a humedad, hay cucarachas vi varias en los pasillos y no hay servicio del personal que te atiendan en las piscinas y en las áreas de recreación uno mismo tiene que buscar su bebida , las comidas si están muy ricas y variadas y el personal son muy amables, para mi preferencia el hotel Riu Palace que fui el año pasado es mucho mejor en todos los sentidos ese si lo repetiría pero el Riu Bambú no creo volver deben mejorar. Está es mi opinión

The property is kept very clean. Pools are awesome and clean. Glad the swim up bar is separated from other pools for those who really like to enjoy a swim and kids can enjoy the pool too. Beach was a delight loved it, great to swim and enjoyable, very pleasant to find a beach chair every time. Great job on cleaning up the sargasum everyday. What was not pleasant is the lack of attentiveness from the waiters, most were not attending the needs of the guests like serving water, bringing coffee and providing extra napkins. There were plenty of waiters but not attending the guests needs. We could have served our drinks hot or cold if the machine was working or allowed to be used by guests. Breakfast at the Colonial buffet lacked latin choices such as beans and queso fresco or Mexican food. Our room was cold at night for ventilation however we had only one sheet to cover ourselves no other blanket was provided or extra pillows to vary neck height. Only one long pillow per guest was on the bed but it became uncomfortable. Room cleaning was not thorough, empty dirty cups were not taken. Another day after room cleaning new towels were placed they smelled awful we couldn’t dry ourselves with them. Tip was left for cleaning the room. We have stayed at other RIUs without complaints this is just to share our experience. Thank you for providing bottled water everyday.

Our experience was not just disappointing — it was traumatic and dangerous. We traveled as a family of 15 to celebrate a 15th birthday. What we encountered instead: My 2-year-old daughter developed a bacterial skin infection (cellulitis) and had to be rushed to a U.S. emergency room immediately after we left the resort. A second toddler in our group was hospitalized overnight after vomiting 7 times and the family was charged $600 at a Dominican hospital — despite having Medicaid. On the last day, my 13-year-old brother woke up vomiting with a fever. 3 sets of grandparents suffered vomiting, diarrhea, or illness during the trip. My grandfather, diagnosed with COPD, was placed in a room with no air conditioning for a day and a half while relying on oxygen. The was no access to bottled water in restaurants, plus having to walk to the lobby to get water for the room.Cockroaches in the pool (we have video) Staff using pool water to mop the restaurant floor A staff member who threatened my husband when he tried to bring food to our sick child. We cried, panicked, and begged for help multiple times in the lobby. We received nothing but deflection. Expedia: this resort should NOT be listed as a 5-star property. My sister who we had planned her 15th birthday for over a year is completeley traumatized and so are we all. Even when expedia returned our money we are not here just for them to give back our money it was a psychological trauma, and my sister's birthday can't be returned.

It would be nice to have vegetarian option at the snack bar or change it up daily. The rooms are a little out dated but it was overall a good stay.
