Overall experience is brilliant: good lake view, good service, clean, comfortable. But there's only one drawback: the shower drains very slow. I had to finish shower in 5 mins to avoid water flooding out. I still highly recommend this hotel.

Relegate to a 3 star

The building and location are fantastic. The furniture inside is tacky and dated. The beds are so uncomfortable and the outdoor seating area could be glorious. The lift needs manual intervention each time for it to descend - it’s 2025…time for an upgrade. No toiletries, not even slippers were provided. The buffet is equivalent to premier inn’s.

Lake view double

We stayed in a double lake view room and it was very spacious and comfortable with a very large double bed. The hotel itself is ideally located for exploring Bowness and south lakes. The staff were brilliant and the service was exceptional. My only negatives would be that charging paying customers £15per day for car parking seems a little excessive given that this is a private car park and not open to the public. We also added the rose petals to our booking to make it more of a special occasion, however on arrival these were missing. I contacted reception and they resolved this the following day, however there was just a handful of cheap plastic petals, not what I was expecting for this calibre of hotel.

Fabulous stay at the Belsfield

We had a fabulous stay at the Belsfield. The hotel is beautiful with fantastic views. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff were most helpful. There was a huge choice of food and beverages at breakfast. We will choose this hotel again when visiting the area.

Not a bad hotel but worth the high price

Hotel room not very clean .. also had broken window..chip out of bottom of bath… but the bed was very comfy, the shower was great and the staff were great.. and the view is unreal ..overall its a not a bad hotel but not worth the money

Disappointing

Booked The Belsfield as it was cheaper than others in the Lakes. On arrival, scaffolding, ladders, and dirt greeted us. Check in felt unprofessional, and the carpets and corridors were marked, smelly, and dated. Room was tired with damp on the bathroom ceiling. Noise was an issue screaming and loud furniture moving next door in the middle of the night. Reception moved them but communication was poor. Breakfast was cramped, dark, and uninviting, with a “sit anywhere” policy. Check out was slow with only one person on the desk and no interest in how our stay was. The hotel seems focused on exterior work while the interior desperately needs refurbishment. Would not return

It was our 25th anniversary and to our surprise we were upgraded to the bridal suite which was a lovely gesture. The hotel is ideally placed for all amenities, the staff were lovely but our overriding though was that the hotel is looking old and tired with scaffolding erected at the front which made the £250 a night excessively over priced.

Loved it

Great Dame very beautiful setting in the heart of Windermere. Easy walking distance into town. Our room was small but beautiful and comfy. The bathroom was modern and clean. Only one downside was the breakfast it was really not great. Service was excellent though.
