We had a comfortable stay. The room was clean and very spacious, with an ocean/city view combo. The bed was a little too firm but we slept alright on it. The A/C was excellent and the temperature in the room was quite cool and comfortable (and adjustable to our liking). We would have liked an early check-in option, and the front desk said they would call as soon as the room was ready, but I never received a call (had no missed calls, either), and we had to wait over 2 hours to check in, though they did hold our luggage for us, which was nice. They had changed shifts by the time we were able to check in and it seemed like the early shift did not communicate anything about us waiting to the later shift. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and we really liked the rooftop restaurant. It had excellent food and service, and pretty good drinks.

Friendly Staff Shine at Golden Bay Belize Hotel

Here's a 4-star review factoring in undisclosed expansion construction: "Golden Bay Belize Hotel gets 4 stars from me, mainly 'cause staff's top-notch (5 stars!). Location's decent, close to city action. However, the kicker was unexpected construction noise – not mentioned upfront.. Rooms were clean, services okay, but the surprise disruption knocked off a star. If you're okay with potential noise and don't mind the hustle, it'll do. Just ask hotel folks for updates if planning to stay!" 😒👍

Disappointed

We had a room with jacuzzi , no view in the room , the only view was on a wall of a building in construction when we ask to change room it was not possible . A lot of noise early in the morning.. The good point was the bed which was comfortable.

Overnight Solo Stay

Stayed only for a night, booked the king bed but they only had the two queens available which I wasn’t upset at. Overall solid location and really close to the Belize Water Taxi Terminal. Walking distance to good restaurant options as Belize city isn’t too dense population wise.

A great experience

Our group of 20 persons stayed at the Golden Bay Belize for one night. I had contacted the hotel in advance and they were very helpful in helping me secure a cave tubing tour for our group. When we arrived, the hotel restaurant was to be closed for a private event, despite me notifying the hotel our group would like to eat at the restaurant. The front desk was amazing and had staff prepare an area in the restaurant for our group and we were able to have our evening at the hotel as planned. The hotel provided our group with towels for the tour and even delivered our luggage to the dock after our tour to save our group an extra stop at the hotel. I cannot say enough good about this hotel. It is reasonably priced, and clean. The restaurant is first rate and the staff does above and beyond to provide the best experience for their customers. I will continue to book our groups through the Golden Bay.

This place was very convenient. It had a restaurant on top. And a decent size convenient store on the bottom floor. Speaking of the store, you can find most of the souvenirs that you will probably have in mind. I was told that store in particular ships their items to other tourist locations. The rooms were nice and they were modern. The bathroom was clean, modern, and had a good shower. The people were very friendly. They all greeted me with a smile first than words second. The things I did not like were the construction going on around the building are specifically on the south side. The reason being is that they are adding more to the hotel. I understand that, but I did not know that before checking in. Also one of my towels, face towel that is, was dirty as in had black streaks on it. Other than those few things for the location and price, I thought Golden Bay was pretty good. If for any particular reason, I had to return to Belize city I would choose this hotel. The area is safe for the most part. In the daytime, I walked a little way And checked out the museum of Belize, which was right by it. And a little further down was the water taxi.

The hotel was generally pleasant, but I don’t think it justifies the price. Ongoing construction, unmentioned on the website, makes the daytime quite noisy. The water pressure in the bathroom was especially weak, and the restaurant menu was disappointing, with many items unavailable due to being out of season. I’d honestly recommend staying in Caye Caulker instead of Belize City for a more enjoyable experience. While my initial impression of the staff was that they seemed unfriendly, their attitude improved over the course of my stay.

The place was very cute and most of the staff was pretty nice. The only bad thing is that we booked a tour through the hotel which got canceled due to weather. They still made us paid for a box lunch that was never given to us, and when I contacted the hotel about this to ask for a refund, they stopped responding and never gave us the refund.

The property only had a restaurant and gift shop with limited hours. There are no activities within walking distance. There is a major renovation project in progress, which is noisy. The staff was very friendly and helpful but that didn’t the lack of amenities.

The shower had mold, I was scared to use it, it was dirty, I stayed here before when it was clean, they need to do better with up keep, I won't be staying here again. Mold is highly allergic and unsafe.
