The rooms are very basis and desperately in need of refurbishment especially the bathroom Very limited housekeeping service and WiFi non existent Overall the breakfast was good but hot food ran out on the 1st morning before the end of service Stbaff very friendly

Room (52) was in poor condition. Shower was sporadic and unusable. This was due to leisure facilities according to staff. Room was fairly clean but in dire need of basic refurbishment. Bed was comfortable enough. Tv was not working originally and no coffee available which I had to go to reception to remedy both issues Food at restaurant was decent and I’d say decent value. Staff were friendly however durning dinner period all the waitress were just stood around chatting amongst themselves and we had to go up and prompt them to offer us a drink. Then after that we had to go up and prompt them again to take our food order.. breakfast was a decent standard with no complaints. Swimming pool and gym facilities were decent and a good effort was made with the hallowe’en decorations. Location is good. Unfortunately I would not wish to stay here again due to the basic needs of a hotel room not being met.

Evening meals in restaurant were tasty and a good selection of options. Bonus for me was that they did small portions of many of the meals. Service for Evening meals and breakfast was excellent with staff friendly. Bedrooms were large and clean but very warm! It made it difficult to sleep because of it despite keeping bedroom window wide open all the time. Main area and pool were well kept . Stairs and corridors carpets were tired and stained looking but overall was very pleasantly surprised and would happily stay there again :)

Bel ensemble architectural et confortable

Accueil à l'écossaise ( vite fait, bien fait et avec le sourire ), très belle chambre ( à rafraîchir cependant ) avec un king bed très apprécié. Les couloirs ont besoin d'être rafraîchis également. Piscine avec une clockwise lane et ça c'est super ! Il faudrait passer la serpillière plus souvent dans les vestiaires des 2 sexes. Le petit déjeuner est correct mais il faudrait plus de fruits frais. Le service est impeccable. Tarif en rapport avec la qualité.

Comfortable but tired

We stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting family in the area. We felt that the hotel was comfortable, but in need of significant modernising. Our room was feeling very tired , with dated and scuffed furnishings . The walls were also very thin leading to disturbed sleep thanks to some amerous neighbours! The leisure facilities are a real bonus, with a good pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The staff both in the hotel and at the pool were profesional and friendly throughout our stay

Disappointed

There were no elevators which wouldn’t have been a problem, except we had to go through lots of hallways and down several flights of stairs with our luggage. One of our rooms had lots of spiders in it. Breakfast was served a little late so we weren’t able to eat anything before we needed to get back on the road; there wasn’t even any fruit or coffee/tea set out so people could grab stuff on the go.

Ok but needs an upgrade

Have stayed here a few times before. We came for our anniversary but unfortunately wasn’t impressed this time. Our room was nice enough and comfy bed. There was 2 coffee cups with coffee & tea but no teaspoons to stir it. There also was no hand soap, shower gel etc or anything at all to wash your hands with in the bathroom which I found pretty poor. The spa is ok, pool is nice but it’s very tired looking and needs a good upgrade tbh. Steamroom was like sitting in a cupboard.

Had a fab time staff are all lovely. Room was clean with a comfy bed loads of tea and coffee in rooms and nice biscuits.Fire alarm went off a few times after coming out the shower but staff were at door within seconds to make sure we were ok must be very sensative alarm. The breakfast was amazing with great choice hot and fresh plenty selection hot or continental. Dinner was amazing and liked you could get half portions of some of the main meals. The bar staff were lovely and friendly. The pool area with hot tub sauna and steam room was fab and again all staff were friendly and helpful even got to join the aqua gym class which was great and all free when staying at hotel as guest. Me and my husband will defo be back to stay in the near future.

Had two night stay and slept really well, so no complaints about the beds. Staff friendly. Decor generally very poor (carpets and walls in particular need attention) and no need for radiators to be on during the summer - some of the corridors were uncomfortably hot. Carpets smelly.

Correct, mais un sérieux coup de neuf s’impose

Notre séjour a été correct grâce à un lit spacieux et confortable, mais les chambres mériteraient une sérieuse rénovation. L’ensemble est très vieillot : moquette usée partout, douche difficile à régler, fenêtres rustiques qu’il faut presque forcer pour fermer, et un ménage insuffisant avec beaucoup de poussière derrière la télévision et sous les meubles. Cela donne une impression générale de manque d’entretien. Nous avons pris petits-déjeuners et dîners au restaurant de l’hôtel. Le personnel, principalement composé de jeunes, est aimable mais souvent désorganisé, ce qui nuit au service. La nourriture est bonne, mais toutes les viandes sont cuites à l’excès, le cuisinier refusant de servir des cuissons saignantes. Mieux vaut donc éviter les plats à base de viande rouge. Autre déception : aucun service de blanchisserie malgré la taille de l’établissement, la laverie la plus proche étant à 25 miles. Le grand point fort reste la piscine impressionnante et le complexe sportif très complet, qui contrastent fortement avec l’état des chambres. Un hôtel qui pourrait offrir une bien meilleure expérience s’il investissait dans une rénovation et un entretien plus rigoureux.

Lovely Hotel in a lovely village

This was our second stay in the Buchanan Arms Hotel and we were not dissapointed. Lovely lounge/bar/conservatory area. We enjoyed our dinner in the hotels restaurant and staff were friendly. We will be back :)
