The hotel had an older grand charm. Service ranged from wonderful, with the kind and helpful valet attendant, to dealing with a grouchy lady at the front desk, who didn’t smile, look you in the eye, and when asked what our room number was, told us to look at our paper.
The room was very clean and modern with an old world charm. However, the 2 antique windows had a crack in each, but it didn’t bother us. Also, we only had one roll of toilet paper for 4. I had to go down to the front desk the next morning to ask for another. The coffee pot was a little rinky-dink, with the top falling off, but it worked well. The tub stopper was was not screwed in. Not sure if it was broke or supposed to be like that. We all took showers though and didn’t need to stop up the tub. However, upon taking a shower, the water would not get hotter than barely warm. That was bothersome to some because they were not able to shave with that temp.
The breakfast room was quaint and many breakfast options available. The food options were a bit of an upgrade to food I have had at other hotels. There was one tiny scoop of grits left that I got, is my only breakfast complaint. I am not sure if more was added to the pot later. Everything needed a little salt and pepper, but that was not a big deal. Salt and pepper was provided.
The hotel is walking distant to the concert arena. That was very nice. There was also a beautiful little park across the street.
