During check-in, the front desk employee made physical copies of my government-issued ID and credit card. I was told this was due to fraud prevention, but the practice felt outdated and raised serious concerns about privacy and data security. No clear explanation was provided about how my personal information would be stored or protected.
When I expressed my discomfort and asked about alternatives, the employee responded that I could “just go somewhere else,” despite the fact that bookings made through Hotels.com would still be charged. This response felt dismissive and unprofessional, leaving me feeling stuck and uncomfortable.
While I understand the importance of fraud prevention, there are more modern and secure ways to handle this. The lack of transparency and poor customer service significantly impacted my experience.
