I can believe this hotel was once worthy of a four star rating but those days are long gone. The property feels very tired and is in need of complete renovation. The corridors look dated and the family room we stayed in (219) had decor that requires full replacement. The bathroom was even more dated and the sink had a large crack. On arrival the toilet flush did not work although the maintenance team did fix it while we were out. Annoyingly there are no usable pug sockets near the bed either.
Cleanliness was the biggest concern. There were hairs in the bin from a previous guest which suggests that the room had not been cleaned properly. The shower pressure was also very weak.
On the positive side the hotel is inexpensive, especially when booked through Hotels.com, and it is close to Leeds city centre.
A local taxi driver mentioned that the hotel had previously been used exclusively by the UK Home Office and if that is true the owners should consider reinvesting the profits back in the property as it is in an excellent location.
