The Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum is a riot of color and drama that conjures up those festival vibes all year round. Guided tours are available to add extra context to the exhibits and bring the tales of past Mardi Gras to life. The museum also hosts events, so check the website to see if something’s happening while you’re in town.

One of the most famous landmarks in Biloxi, the lighthouse stands proudly near the seafront between Biloxi Beach and Lighthouse Park. The lighthouse itself was built over 150 years ago and has survived the worst that hurricanes can throw at it. For a deeper look into its past, take a tour and be sure to make your way up to the top to enjoy the panoramic views.

Just over the road is Lighthouse Park, which is a great place for taking photos of the lighthouse, but it also provides 2 hectares (5 acres) of lush green parkland to enjoy, as well as a playground for the kids. Take a picnic and relax in the shade as you enjoy this peaceful spot.

6. Ship Island

Stunning site of a historic fort

适合: 照片, 历史

As you’ve probably guessed, you’ll need to take a boat trip to get to Ship Island, which lies off the coast of Biloxi. The boat journey itself, available from March to October, is enjoyable, but when you get to the island, it’s not just the sensational scenery and incredible waters that are the attractions, though we recommend taking a dip. Ship Island is the location of Fort Massachusetts.

The fort stands on the western end of Ship Island and was first built in the mid-1800s. It was almost immediately plunged into war when Mississippi seceded from the Union. If you’re a history fan, be sure to immerse yourself into the incredible past of the fort that makes it a must-see attraction.
