The stretch of the Delaware River along Milford Beach is mostly flat and calm, so it is also an attractive area for those who like to head out on the water in canoes or kayaks. It has a boat launch and a canoe launch. The beach also offers access to the Joseph M. McDade Recreational Trail. There is no potable water at this location, so be sure to bring drinks.

4. Black Moshannon State Park

Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach is a family-owned and operated swim and recreation facility. It consists of 8 acres of beach and recreation area on the shore of Lake Conewago that is open to the public for a fee. Located 12 miles (19 km) from Hershey, it’s easy to get to.

The sand beach stretches 300 ft (91 meters), and certified lifeguards are on hand to monitor swimmers whenever the area is open to the public. If you’re interested in getting in the water, inner tubes, beach chairs, canoes, and kayaks are available for rent. Note that fishing and pets are not permitted.

6. Poe Valley State Park

Poe Valley State Park has a swimming beach on the shore of Poe Lake that is open from late May to early September, unless otherwise posted. It’s quite shallow, with the maximum depth of the swimming area at 5 ft (1.5 meters). Near the swimming beach are some small stands offering food and drink and some camping and picnic supplies.

There is a launch area and 12 seasonal mooring spaces on the 25-acre lake. Paddleboats, kayaks, and canoes are available for rent near the swimming area from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you’d like to stay a little longer, choose your accommodation between campsites or cottages.

7. Beltzville State Park

Beltzville State Park features a long sand beach that is open from late May to mid-September. While swimming is possible, swimmers are advised to read and follow the posted rules, so we recommend experienced swimmers only.

Anglers can fish for bass, trout, walleye, perch, and muskellunge at Beltzville Lake and ice fishing is popular in the winter months. If you’re up for a wander, check out the hiking trails in the area that follow old roads and the banks of small streams.

9. Seven Points Beach

Seven Points Beach at Raystown Lake is divided into 2 areas. The smaller of the 2 is popular with families with children because of its shallow, sandy access. There’s something for everyone, though, as Raystown Lake also offers boat rentals, so it’s popular with anglers and kayakers.

The beach area has many amenities, including restrooms, concession stands, picnic tables, a playground, water trampoline, and more. There is also a picnic shelter that can be reserved. We do recommend water shoes if you’re visiting Seven Points Beach, for comfort.
