The best towns and resorts in St Kitts and Nevis range from the bustling capital of Basseterre to a collection of sleepy mountain villages. Some of the more remote villages feature nothing more than a few houses lining a beautiful beach, surrounded by lush jungle.
Considering only 40,000 people live on the 2 islands, it’s clear that you’ll be far from any kind of hustle and bustle. St Kitts and Nevis are quiet even when compared to other Caribbean islands. But that’s not to say sleepy – there’s more to these 2 small islands than just powdery beaches and swaying palms. You can enjoy a variety of exciting activities here – golfing, scuba diving, windsurfing and hiking are just a few to start off with.

From scuba diving to golf, St Kitts is home to many fantastic activities, and Basseterre is the best place to compare options and book your trips. Kittian Village is a luxurious, purpose-built resort area on the eastern coast of St Kitts, around 20 minutes’ drive from the capital. With a host of hotels and many restaurants to choose from, this is the most popular place to stay on the island.
Although lacking in local culture, the beach here encapsulates the holiday vibe. The sand is golden and powder-soft, with plenty of activities if you need to burn some energy. You can learn to kitesurf, rent a jet ski or even try your hand at sailing. At night, relax at an oceanfront beach bar or test your luck in the casino. Just north of Kittian Village, you’ll find Royal St Kitts Golf Course, which is widely considered the best course on the island. At sunset, take the short hike to Timothy Hill Overlook to enjoy ocean views on both sides of the island and spot the packs of monkeys in the hills.

Cockleshell Bay is a popular stretch of coast on the southern coast of St Kitts. It’s quite remote and pristine, with a back-to-nature feel. Thankfully, you’ll find several beach bars strung out along the sand, popular for couples looking for a relaxing break together. If you want to stay in the area, there are some high-end resorts nearby.
At sunset, head to the Reggae Beach Bar on the eastern edge of Cockleshell Bay. It’s popular with visitors and locals and hosts live music well into the night. For some interesting local dining, head over the headland to the neighbouring beach in Banana Bay.
