Rio Celeste is well-known for its natural beauty and riverfront, featuring attractions such as Rio Celeste Waterfall and Tenorio Volcano National Park. The city has something for everyone including restaurants along with sights like Peace Tree and Tapir Valley Nature Reserve.
"The room #1 was gorgeous. The lake view was breathtaking. Colourful and pintoresque decoration. The restaurant has delicious food and the service was excellent. The landscape views are unbeatable. Highly recommended! Best option in the zone."
"The location is beautiful, and off of the main road, so there isn’t any road traffic sound… unlike some nearby lodges that cost more. The staff is friendly, and they did my laundry on the same day, without an extra charge… The food is good and different from surrounding lodges in the fact that they also have Italian food, in addition to the wonderful Costa Rican fare. Abundant, luxuriously, foliated, gardens, full of flowers and birds… repeat with birdfeeders attracting some for close observation or photography. Common local birds are present, but due to the distance between the hotel and primary reinforced cover the Hills and nearby national park, there won’t be too many unusual varieties… but two species of toucans are abundant and vocal in the morning.… While frogs annunciate at night. There is private parking, and road leading to the hotel is not paved… But it’s also easily reversed by any type of car. Bearings were clean and cozy, and the shower is the electric type… So remember not to turn the water volume up too much or you won’t feel the warmth of the heating element…. But if you turn the water volume down, it will still be at a comfortable level, with hot water. "
"The place truly grows on you. While the property is a bit dated, the people more than make up for it with their warmth and helpfulness. We stayed in a chalet overlooking the volcano, and on a clear day the view was simply enviable. The breakfast staff goes out of their way to make mornings pleasant, and the front desk team is consistently friendly and supportive, contributing greatly to a comfortable and enjoyable stay"
"This hotel is situated in quiet nature. The scenery is calming and so are the rooms. Every room has a view like out of a postcard of the lake and the mountain and greenery.
The staff are amazing, attentive and welcome but do not speak fluent English. It allowed me to practice my Spanish and also enjoy the culture even more.
The food - breakfast … I don’t know if there are enough words in any langue to describe the quality, presentation and taste. Everything is made in the open kitchen and there is no menu, what you are offered is what you get. You WILL be so pleased and want more.
I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a great escape. The location is a short distance to the ‘main’ area but that only adds to the feel and experience.
Lastly, there are no TVs in the room; the focus is on self and nature. This is a stay for a couple or for one person, depending on the level of rest one is looking for
I would recommend and I am looking forward to going back and staying again soon!"
"This hotel was absolutely incredible - so beautiful with every single detail thought of. The room was stunning, clean, and comfortable. Highly recommend!"
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 — A Truly Magical Experience at Río Perdido
Río Perdido is one of the most extraordinary resorts we’ve ever visited — a hidden gem that exceeds expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality. The maids, servers, concierge team, and everyone on site were unfailingly kind, attentive, and made us feel like we were among friends.
The resort itself is stunning. Set within a private preserve of forests, canyons, and geothermal wonders, every view feels like a postcard. The thermal river is unforgettable — relaxing, healing, and unlike anything you’ll experience elsewhere. We loved the beautiful hiking trails, restorative yoga sessions, and exhilarating zip-lining.
The food was exceptional across all restaurants, with fresh ingredients, great flavours, and flawless service. Every meal felt special.
A true highlight was meeting Gabriel and his father — two of the most gracious, passionate people you’ll ever meet. Their love for the land, the community, and the guest experience shines through in every detail of the resort.
Río Perdido is magical in every category: service, nature, activities, food, and atmosphere. We can’t recommend it highly enough and will absolutely be returning."
