"We had a great time at Riu Palace! The staff are so welcoming. They work so hard to make your stay great! The grounds are well kept. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The food is amazing! The buffet has a great variety each day and the food gets replenished often. My kids loved the chocolate fountain. Each day there’s a different type of chocolate in the fountain. I loved the seafood variety. We ate at the steakhouse restaurant onsite and had a delicious lobster. We ate at the Japanese restaurant and liked the food. It’s a first come, first served which worked well. We never had to wait. There were some fun times at the pool such as the bingo games, foam party and the gymnastics show. Javi is a great server by the pool side. He remembered our names and what we like to drink. We loved the Riu white party over at Riu Tequila across the road. Early in the evening there’s face painting and balloons. It cost $10 US taxi to get from the playa del Carmen ferry to the Riu resort. I suggest dealing in pesos. There is a laundry service available. You have to pay by the item so it can really add up. So we didn’t use it. There’s a lot of laundry to do with a family. Too bad there wasn’t a self serve laundry room or a pay by the bag service. The beach was great. There’s lots of people swimming in front of the resort. The ocean is warm and has clear turquoise water. The sand is white and fluffy. I didn’t see many shells or fish. We can’t wait to stay here again!"

We had issues with our flight which in turn we kind of got scammed on transportation. Resort public relations went above and beyond to help us and made things spectacular. 100% going back"

"We loved our stay at Riu Yucatán and had a great overall experience, especially considering the price. The food was very good, with a wide variety of options, so we didn’t even feel the need to book the à la carte restaurants. There were plenty of fish and meat dishes, salads, fruits, and different Mexican options. Breakfast was excellent as well, with everything from omelettes to sweets. The beach and sea are beautiful — white sand, clear water, and almost no seaweed during our stay. The beach itself is stunning. The staff were fantastic: always helpful, friendly, and everything around the resort was spotless. The animation and activities seemed good too, although we didn’t participate much ourselves. One of the highlights for us was the wildlife on the property. We saw coatis, birds, and iguanas, and we were told that monkeys can be spotted as well — a really nice touch, especially with kids. Downsides: The rooms are a bit outdated, but they are still very functional, clean, and comfortable. There are no umbrellas on the beach. There are palm trees, but with kids the shade isn’t always enough. At checkout, our key cards were blocked exactly at noon sharp we didn’t know and accidentally closed the room but we still had some belongings inside, which was inconvenient. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, great value for money, and we would definitely recommend!"
