The hotel is clearly dated however, it is clean , comfortable and excellent value for money. A fiver for homemade corned beef pie, chips and peas. Come on you cant beat that.

Food at Rhymney is excellent, both free breakfast and meals. The only let down is the hotel needs to be freshened up and upgraded with a lick of paint and new bedroom decor and beds, otherwise very friendly staff and clean rooms and for the price can’t complain.

Last resort stay in your car

Hotel is very very outdated from the smell of stale beer throughout to the very dirty carpets going up the stairs to the rooms,The bedroom the beds are very cheap didnt even have matching bed linen,there was no tv remote i asked for one they said they would get one but didnt the paintwork was chipped and peeling on all the woodwork ,the towels were rock hard with a small tablet of soap the shower was dirty the taps on the dink turned all the way to the wall when trying to turn on or off i slept on top of the bed as it felt dirty after a very long day at work i didnt have the energy to move hotels due to the condition of rooms i didnt eat there so cannot confirm as to quality of food last resort wouldnt stay again i move about different hotrls evry night due to work definitely on the never again list

Grubby

Staff were lovely, the food was good and reasonably priced. The bar area was welcoming then we get to the dreaded accommodation. Room 5 grubby and in desperate need of a facelift. Can’t say what the other rooms are like but judging on my room not great. Luckily only stayed the one night.

Tatty and cheap

I made the mistake of believing the reviews. Didn't realize it had only had 6 reviews That must be friends and family. The decor is seriously 30 to 40 years old. Small TV , freezing cold shower It wasn't expensive . So I should've expected it. If you want somewhere to doss it's fine. The place is a pit !

The outside was ok. The bar and restaurant areas were ok.But room 5 where I stayed was in poor condition.The wallpaper was peeling from the walls , the woodwork needed painting. Generally the room was grubby and needed complete renovation. The electrical wiring looked as if didn’t appear to code.I booked the hotel for two nights but just left after the first night. I would not recommend this hotel.

Bed comfortable, but no bedside light because of room shape. Furnishings old and basic. Carpets well worn. Owners very welcoming and helpful, so very well looked after during my short stay. No late night disturbance because house shuts down and downstairs alarms set at 10.30pm. Excellent!
