Our stay at TaiHu Hotel was spectacular: the host was incredibly helpful and accommodating to the needs of our group of 7 throughout our stay.
First, the basics: we stayed in the Deluxe Penthouse, with 3 bedrooms total. The room was incredibly spacious, and the living room had plenty of seating for all 7 of us to socialise. The room was clean and well-furnished: plenty of towels, slippers, cups, hair dryers and soap. The beds were comfortable and the mix of futon beds and a queen bed gave us enough space to spread out.
The hotel is also very well-situated, close to the pier and the main restaurants. There is a bit of an uphill hike to the bus stops, but nothing too extreme.
What stood out during our stay was the extra mile the host went to accommodate us. On our first morning, most of us missed breakfast after a late night, and she kindly offered us bento boxes to bring upstairs. On our second (and last) morning, we had to leave earlier than the standard breakfast timing in order to catch the bus from Ita Thao to the intercity bus terminal in Shuishe. To make sure we still had breakfast, she prepared it an hour earlier than normal and had it ready for us to quickly eat before we left. This was an incredible help for our unusual schedule, notwithstanding that all the food was delicious!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sun Moon Lake, and a big part of that was thanks to our incredible host. I would recommend a stay here any day.
