Definitely a Keeper

What a neat place to stay in downtown Detroit. The inn was close to where we were going (the Masonic Temple for a concert) but also within a few hundred yards of the Fox and downtown sports parks. The old place is beautiful and funky without being too fussy. The bathroom was huge—a room unto itself! Our room was quite cold (third floor) due to AC and as it was about 11:30 pm when we got home from the concert, there was no one to contact. Extra blanket helped. The mattress is about at the end of its life. Coffee and continental breakfast were a good bonus.

Beautiful building

Super cozy and a great location for getting to the sports arenas. walking out the front door and Comerica Park is right there! I will be making this our go to stay when we visit Detroit for sporting events.

Not recommended

Beautiful building but the furniture was horribly dirty, falling apart and in much need of repair. Carpets were dirty. Windows, vents and trim were extremely dusty and dirty.

What a disappointment!

The outside of the building & the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in room 24. It was very warm in the room. Windows did not open, no ceiling fan. I asked the worker there & she turned on sub par air conditioning. The room had no amenities, except a TV. The room had not been cleaned recently. There was a price tag & dust on the floor in the main room. Two bed pillows did not have cases. The window behind the TV was covered by a heavy drape. Behind the drape was a broken, dirty blind. I dropped something on the floor in the bathroom. When I bent to pick it up, the back of the sink & toilet were filthy. The two workers were very nice & welcoming. The continental breakfast was nice. But the filth & poor ventilated room was unacceptable. For $212, we were definitely overcharged. We will never stay there again & will not recommend to our friends.

Beautiful, Central, Welcoming

Located walking distance from downtown and around the corner from the free light rail, The inn at 97 Winder is a true gem! The mansion is gorgeous, filled with a collection of colorful artwork and antiques. The rooms are very spacious—mine had a bay window facing downtown—and the bathrooms are very clean. Everything that I needed was provided for; they even accommodated my late check-in and held a bag for me upon check-out. The breakfast was basic but a nice perk nonetheless. Would stay here again, and especially recommend if you’re attending a show at The Fox Theater or a sporting event.

Must stay!

This was an amazing B&B!! The staff (I believe their names were Denise and Danielle) were soo friendly! They made sure that me and my sis knew of some of the local things that were going on and always greeted us when we came down and seen us off! I was worried that the air wouldn’t work as well being that it was an older building and we were on the top floor, but we stayed nice and cool in our room! This was also the perfect location for the Ford Field- about a 6 minute walk! 10/10 definitely coming back again!

Good overnight value for a sports event

Decor As expected for an old mansion and the price point. Very quiet as there are only 10 rooms and we didn’t spend much time there. Excellent location for Lions or Tigers games. Staff was very friendly. Parking is $28 extra but cheaper than any other hotels nearby.

Amazing experience

The experience was top-tier. It was beautiful and the location really made a difference. I recommend booking here every time you visit Detroit. The only downfall was the parking due to the events, but other than that, it was amazing!

Charming inn.

The inn is fantastic. Rooms very well appointed and modern bathrooms. Bed comfy. Continental breakfast hit the spot. Ice and glasses and coffee always available. No refreshments otherwise. Only difficulty we had was pre-arrival communications. No responses to chat messaging through hotels.com, and phone went to voicemail 4 times with no returned phone call. I didn’t get through on 5th try. I would still recommend
