Our New Year stay at this resort was unfortunately below expectations. Despite some positives, several fundamental aspects of the experience were disappointing:
1. The accommodation feels tired, with dated rooms and bathrooms that would benefit greatly from refurbishment.
2. Room lighting and switches are unintuitive, making simple tasks more frustrating than they should be.
Ventilation at night is poor. With the ceiling fan not aligned over the bed, the room felt stuffy unless windows were opened — which then led to mosquito issues.
3. The resort is very built-up, and the fenced-off lakefront prevents wildlife from moving freely around the property, which removes much of the authentic Lake Naivasha feel.
4. Food on the full-board plan was repetitive and uninspired. The New Year’s Eve buffet, in particular, was surprisingly underwhelming.
5. Extra charges for specialty coffees at breakfast felt unnecessary and detracted from the experience.
What stood out positively
1. Excellent service from the staff, especially Matilda and Tabitha in the F&B team, and the front office staff, who were consistently courteous and attentive.
2. Well-located property with easy access around Naivasha.
3. Nicely maintained gardens and outdoor spaces.
4. A very well-executed New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
5. A good range of activities for children, making it suitable for families in that regard.
