Historical Death Valley

Lovely property and rich history; the tour gave such wonderful insight and details. Staff was helpful, passionate, and kind.

The place is very dated, looks a bit like a haunted house in the middle of nowhere, but the staff is very friendly and make all the efforts to make your stay cosy. Unfortunately the shower pressure

Uniquely fantastic!

A truly unique and fantastic stay. Limited amenities, but it does have a microwave and fridge for guest use, as well as more history and charm than one can imagine without experiencing it.

The building is proud of its history. The staff lovely. Facilities very poor. Shared microwave and toaster in dirty area. Shared dirty fridge. Big ice machine. No washing up facilities. 15 mins wait for hot water...but is plentiful when it comes. Noisy air con. Bring all your own food and dishes as none available. Bed comfy. No tv in room. Wifi worked but slow at times. To be fair its the cheapest place to stay so on that basis I would return. Outside very dusty but is a desert!

Unique historical property Do not expect 5 stars but if you are interested in a historic stay this is for you Don’t miss the free tour some mornings

Amazing experience

Definitely stayed for the experience. Online pictures looked so cool and seeing it in person made it even better. There were a lot of review about it being run down and not being super updated. Literally the whole point of the experience is the culture of the building. My room and bathroom was very clean, loaded with supplies, the front desk staff was extremely friendly, and check-in/check/out was very smooth. It was only 30 minutes from Death Valley National Park and only an hour and 45 minutes from Las Vegas so it was super convenient! I absolutely loved this place for my solo trip and I will certainly be back again!!

Cudos for the owners for keeping it going. An historic and peaceful place in the desert.

Awesome place so much history, staff was wonderful, facilities old but clean. The 2023 Hillary floods hit the whole area hard and they are still recovering.

This is an historical property trying to stay afloat. If you like an isolated, quiet, off-the-grid experience, this is for you. Tours of the Opera House twice a day were interesting. The dark night sky was a bonus!

I only booked this place because it was the closest to Death Valley National Park. If you don't need to be close, I recommend Pahrump, NV.

Whether or not you’ll like this hotel is based on one overriding question : can you tolerate an old, dingy property, and rooms in obvious disrepair, in the name of historical authenticity? I suspect people will either love or hate this place. I loved it, my wife hated it! There you go…

Super cool history & tour of the property. Staff was friendly & knowledgeable. Water in the shower was extremely cold but the property is very old, so no biggie. Totally worth it. Would stay here again!

Already ready for my next stay here!

Rooms were clean and well-maintained. The hotel itself is charming and the staff was very kind. Take the tour if you can and learn more about Marta Beckett and the history of the hotel! The surrounding desert was nice to walk in as the sun rose. Some of the rooms were hand painted by Beckett and I got lucky enough to be in one!

A very nice, interesting place, the Opera House was quite welcoming and offered a unique, tranquil experience. I plan on returning the next time I visit the area.

Odd, but charming. Wea Anderson fans will love it

Pity there are no marks for charm and singularity. This is just not your normal motel, nor is Amargosa hamlet, which is a photographer's. Staying there was a memorable experience for all sorts of good reasons. Boring and bland it is not. Bed comfy, aircon works. Shame windows don't open. Bring your own food, there's nothing around. Good jumping off for DV and just up the road from Shoshone and its wonderful museum. Watch the stars way out in the desert.
