My room was perfect. Clean, great views, comfortable bed. Bathroom was perfect- water pressure and temperature perfect. The owner is doing a wonderful job at maintaining the historic building while keeping it modern. Staff was so delightful. Jaime went above and beyond to help me sort out my path for exploring around the area and set up transportation for me. Ordered in for dinner from the restaurant down the street and that was easy and so delicious. I hope to visit again soon!

Great choice in Guayaquil

The building is a gorgeous family mansion bountifully furnished with chandeliers and other period pieces. Breakfast was simple but made to order. The location was excellent, with artists' galleries and a variety of restaurants nearby . The staff were quick to respond to any requests we made. The immediate area had enough security such that we could relax and enjoy a stroll along the riverfront.We enjoyed having a glass of wine on the large front balcony with gorgeous tall palms framing the river view.

This place is amazing: An old building with old furnishing (pictures, photos, furniture décor), full of character. The neighbourhood is very safe, with lots of restaurants and bars (as well as some shops, art galleries, even a theatre) in very easy reach, and an easy walk from the Malecón and downtown Guayaquil. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was fine. But again, it is the building that is the star here: an exceptional place in an exceptional location. Highly recommended.

Excelente. La casa al ser antigua es muy bella. Tiene un balcon de uso comun con vista al río precioso. Es precioso el hotel, la arquitectura y el diseño de interiores te transporta a otro siglo por lo bello que es. Antiguo, pero no se siente viejo ni anticuado, sino histórico. La habitacion que nos asignaron tenia una entrada de luz natural. En resumen, mas instalaciones son preciosas. El personal fue muy amable y estuvieron pendientes de cualquiera de nuestras necesidades. El desayuno era muy bueno y completo, suficiente para que explores la ciudad todo el dia hasta encontrar un sitio donde almorzar. La ubicacion es muy estrategica para poder visitar Las Peñas, el Cerro Santa Ana y el Malecón 2000. Definitivamente volveriamos a ir.

Mansion del Rio is like staying in a museum. We had a great time. It was close to Malecon 2000 as well as the revitalized Santa Ana area along the river. Staff were great, and the breakfast was very good.

The room was not ready when I arrived and had to wait in a steamy hallway. No electricity for 12 hours per day. No water, no internet. Access when it gets dark is very complicated… Avoid it.

Very friendly staff who went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. Beautiful gardens and common areas. Excellent restaurant and bar. Great value. Extended my stay and upgraded to a suite for another ten days.

Great location in the historic area with views of the river and lots of dining options. Staff was wonderful—accommodated my request to change my reservation to the next day when my flight was delayed and gave me breakfast at 6:30am for an early morning flight. Be ready for lots of steps (it’s an old building and there is no elevator). Would definitely stay here again!
