Absolutely wonderful stay, would give it 6 stars out of 5 if possible! This is my third time staying at this beautiful and charming heritage hotel. First of all, here, they respect and value their solo female travellers, unlike at hotels like the Hilton Colombo where I was disrespected across the board by male staff during my last stay, which unfortunately can be an issue in Sri Lanka.
The font desk staff were so kind to upgrade me this time to a gorgeous room with unobstructed ocean views. I was so pleased with my room I ended up extending my stay from 1 night to 5. The staff have been wonderfully obliging overall, and I would like to give a special mention of Dhanuka, my room cleaning attendant, who was not only very attentive to details and did an excellent job cleaning but was always cheerful and pleasant. Also, Malith who works at the pool side restaurant and who was very service-minded and consistent in his professional approach every day.
Breakfast at this hotel very generous and frankly impressive, served on the beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean. This hotel offers so much in terms of experience on the premises. You have a wonderful choice of enjoyable outdoor spaces to sit, eat or relax, giving onto the sea, open air restaurants, and a very charming indoor colonial style bar/tearoom. Furthermore, the hotel has its own little museum, as well as a spa, where I had a couple of Balinese massages, and a very pleasant hair dressing salon that I also visited.
