Everything we needed

Check in was very easy. Our room was clean and tidy and had everything we required. We liked the set up within the lobby where you could play darts or ping pong...or just sit and have a chat or read a book in a place other than your room. It was in a very convenient area with a nice cafe that you could access from the lobby of the hotel.

Location, location, location!

This hotel is in a great location near central train station and cruise ship docking. It is very basic with machine check-in and check out. Therefore you will not have assistance for any questions however that is also reflected in the price. Luggage storage is available but not really safe as it is not monitored.

Clean and convenient

Simple hotel but clean and comfortable. Kiosk check-in but staff is available to help if needed. Easy luggage storage for before/after check-in (not monitored but accessed by keycard). The beds were good sized and comfortable. I had requested a crib/cot for my son and it was ready ava set up in the room when we checked in and it was clean and comfortable for him. The location is also great and a short walk to ask that we wanted to see.

Convenient

Stayed in a junior suite this time (last time we stayed in a small double room which was very stuffy) much more room, we could open the windows and had a veiw of the street. The suite had smart television and as with all hotel rooms it seems you have to already subscribe to streaming channels which is difficult when visiting from another country, we also had a small fridge, a kettle, an expresso machine but only 2 pods for 4 nights, a couple of tea bags but no cups. We also used the laudry room and unfortunately 2 out of the 3 washing machines were out of order.The hosts were very helpfull and the communal area was kept clean & tidy and could be very busy. Very convenient for the Oslo central train station, shops, restaurants and sights.

Revamped modern hotel in the centre of Oslo Good central position. Good comfortable bed. Good WiFi. Nice Bathroom. Good for sleeping. Hotel good but basic (by Norwegian standards a budget hotel). No kettle in the room- a kitchen for communal use. No TV able to use WiFi. No glasses or cups in the room - however paper cups provided in the communal kitchen. (No water provided). Although basic Citybox did provide an okay stay.

It is conveniently located to train station and city centre hotel. You don’t see staff as both check-in and check-out are electronic. Rooms are of reasonable size for Oslo, but TV, fridge, kettle and micowave are for all guests of this large hotel. It is not clear whether provided coated paper plates are microwave safe. There are wooden spoons available. It feels like students accommodation, but it is ok for 1 night stay.

Just a terrible stay. My luggage was stolen from the room where everyone placed their bags, which could be accessed with a card, and the reception girls didn't want to know anything, even though supposedly there were cameras. They didn't even want to check the recordings and just told me to go file a police report. It's completely unacceptable. Even if travelers are responsible for their luggage, the hotel cannot absolve itself of responsibility, and a simple sign in the room has no legal value. They do not have the right to tell people that there is no insurance for this. They really didn’t care at all that my luggage was stolen. One piece of advice: never leave your luggage there because you will have absolutely no means of recourse. As a result, I had to buy all my things again. To avoid!

Bare Essentials But Cheap For Oslo

City Box is a basic hotel but it's clean and central to Oslo. Some of the fixtures and fittings could use an upgrade, the bed/mattress was a bit basic and creaky and the shower head could have been better, but if you're only resting your head then that's not a huge deal. You check in with a code (that I didn't have because my email service was being slow), but there are helpful staff on hand if you need help. And all the staff I saw were polite and friendly. The hotel has a partnership with a few nearby eateries and you can get money off breakfast or dinner, though I didn't use any of them. At first glance they still looked a little pricier than I, as a cheap backpacker, wanted to pay. Maybe I should have looked harder as I did find food prices in Oslo to be high anyway. The hotel is extremely central in Oslo - 5 minutes walk to the train station - and there are many choices of shopping, eating or visitor attractions close by. It is a hotel I will look to use again if I return to Oslo.

Reint og enkelt

+ sentralt med mange butikker, severdigheter. Reint rom og reine omgivelser, hyggelige felllesområder. Kjøkken til gjester og enkle matvarer til salgs i maskiner, samt kaffe på maskin. Ganske lett å få sjekket inn og ut, og har bagasje oppbevaring. Badet var veldig reint. Bra dusj og bra seng. Nok plass til kofferten og å henge opp litt klær. Det var ein plass til å kunne stryke klær om ein ville det. - eit lite område i hjørnet ved vinduet/veggen på rommet mitt var ødelagt og dekket med gardin. Det var òg ein skrue som ikkje var heilt skrudd igjen. Gardinene var ikkje heilt lystette og kunne ikkje trekkes heilt igjen.
