Hotel El Faro did not meet our expectations for a property that presents itself as a 4-star international hotel. In our experience, it is closer to a 3-star hotel, and the price does not match the quality of the facilities or the services provided.
Our first room had significant maintenance issues, so we requested a change. The second room was in better condition; however, it is clear that the hotel as a whole requires a substantial renovation plan. The staff did their best to assist us and were always willing to help, but there were too many structural and operational issues that were beyond their control.
We tried the massage services and, unfortunately, the quality and techniques used were not in line with those of professional massage therapists, nor with what one would expect from a hotel that promotes itself as a spa. Breakfast is quite limited and lacks fresh products, which was also disappointing.
On the positive side, the view from the hotel is outstanding and definitely the highlight of the stay. The quality of the linens is also very good. With improvements in infrastructure and overall services, the hotel could better reflect the privileged location in which it is set.
