Our stay at Argyle House in late September this year was good. Bill, and his son, were very friendly and helpful. The room, on the first floor, is a good size, quirkily decorated ( rather gothic), well furnished, bedding good, and clean. Bathroom quite small , with a good shower etc.
Located high up on the West Cliff side a few minutes walk from the Cook Memorial and 10 minutes walk down to the harbour and town centre. There is on street parking only ( a local parking permit is provided) ; if you are lucky to find a spot nearby leave the car there and walk everywhere if you can. There is no breakfast provision although there are a couple of good nearby cafes. Restaurant eateries are a bit further away.
