BnB not recommended

This was part of a larger trip. There are not many options for staying in Bar Harbor. Most are these old victorian houses. The person who greeted us was not welcoming. The room was very basic, a bit like staying in a Motel 6. Nothing hospitable about the property. The cleaning person sat outside of our room (6ft away), waiting for us to check out on the day we left so that she could clean the second we left the room. When I went to give my key back, the woman (who has entertaining personal friends at the front desk for coffee) asked me how everything was. When I said, 'Umm, it was okay'. Hoping this would open conversation, she said 'okay, I'll take your key, bye'. She went back to conversation again with friends. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask for a milk alternative when grabbing to go coffee on the way out. She seemed perturbed. Not sure there is much to offer in Bar Harbor for nice places, however, this place at over $600 a night was awful. How embarrassing for these properties that they are overcharging their guests in these tourist like areas while delivering a sub par stay.

It was a one-night stay. Very close to Main Street, Bar Harbor, with it's shops and restaurants; easy parking; very comfortable room; helpful staff; great breakfast. We would stay here again.

Sand Bar Cottage Inn stay

Sand Bar Cottage Inn greets you with beautiful gardens, a welcoming front porch and lots of smiles. We made the BEST CHOICE of a place to stay on Bar Harbor. As a airline family, both of us have spent a lot of time in hotels and wanted something different for our Bar Harbor stay. Comfortable beds, clean showers and charmng decor greet every visitor. The owner, Chris, is a delightful person and his personality is shown through the employees, decor and all. Oh, let's not forget the breakfasts! These are AMAZING!!! and to top it off, there are cookies and cake every afternoon tea! We are definitely going to be back!

This is an excellent B&B! Chris, the host, makes everyone feel at home and relaxed, it truly is like a home away from home. It is located really close to all of the downtown restaurants, shops and waterfront and it was so nice not having to worry about finding a parking spot in a busy Bar Harbor. The Sandbar is a place where you just want to stay, maybe stay forever, if it were only possible!

The property was in an excellent location near the sandbar. Our room was very clean and the food was outstanding. The staff did a very good job with everything including making us feel welcome. Our third floor room in the back was very quiet but the queen bed could use a mattress topper to make it more comfortable.

I love it when you get to a B&B you are looking forward to because of the reviews, and it doesn't disappoint right out of the gate. Our room on the third floor was quiet and sleeps four comfortably--great for a family with two kids. The property is kept up nicely, and the breakfast was freshly prepared by a chef and both a sweet and savory option were given. That said, both egg dishes served (a quiche and a frittata) were too salty for my taste. The proprietor could not be more welcoming and pleasant-- some folks just enjoy meeting people and being hospitable-- it's truly a joy to meet them on your travels!

What a Wonderful experience. Inn Keeper Chris is a treasure and the place is spectacular. Great attention to detail make a huge difference. For instance my wife gushed over having a designated make-up removal cloth in the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent as was the afternoo treats. If you're going to Bar Harbor, stay here!!!!
