Would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed at Z2 but frequently used the facilities at Z hotel as well. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Room was lovely and clean, food all round at all the restaurants was amazing! Best meals we had across our holiday.

Pros: Rooms are very clean and A/C keeps room very cool. Very good spot, close to most thing in town. Pools are really nice. Cons: Long stairs, no elevators. My “pool view balcony” overlooked an ugly rooftop of the restaurant. The restaurant staff was extremely slow, I had to get up and bring things myself after asking multiple times. Access to the beach requires walking out of the hotel and going into a long tight driveway where taxi drivers drove way too fast in and we had to squeeze ourselves between trees. The spa staff was pretty much just sitting around on the couch when we entered but they said they were too busy to take us. Although the security did a good job keeping loitering away from guests, it was very annoying sitting by or going to the beach. Shower is too small for the bathroom, needs to be either bigger or a door needs to be added, since every time we took a shower half of the bathroom floor got wet.

This hotel had absolutely everything I could ask for! My only comment would be to make the distinction between Z and Z2 a bit clearer so travelers know exactly what they’re booking. Otherwise, everything was perfect. The staff were outstanding—friendly, professional, and always eager to help. The private beach with access to the public beach offered the best of both worlds, and the on-site restaurants were amazing with delicious menus. Breakfast was convenient and definitely worth it, though you can also order from a menu if you’d like something different. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained. The entire property is truly out of this world. 10/10 highly recommend!

La camera era molto bella e spaziosa e i servizi dell'hotel davvero ottimi. Abbiamo apprezzato soprattutto la vicinanza alla spiaggia e i ristoranti vista spiaggia e con ottima scelta di cibi sia locali che internazionali. L'unica nota negativa è che a volte non arrivava acqua calda per la doccia e andava via la corrente per qualche minuto prima dell'avvio del generatore, ma credo sia un problema di tutta l'isola.

We stayed in the Z-Suite and it was absolutely amazing. I think it was the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. The gym was better equipped than any hotel gym I've seen, the spa treatments were lovely and reasonably priced, and we enjoyed all 3 restaurants. It is centrally located in Nungwi and there is lots to explore in the area (note that this is about 1.5 hour drive from airport). Whoever decorated this hotel should get an award, as the attention to detail from the lamps to the artwork to the wallpaper was impeccable.

Two Hotels, One Name! Make Sure You Know Which One

We originally booked The Z Hotel, expecting to stay at the beautiful beachfront property with its stunning views, pool, restaurant, and gym. However, upon arrival, we were informed that we had been placed at The Z2 Hotel, a newly opened sister property located just behind The Z Hotel. While Z2 is modern and clean, it lacks the charm, atmosphere, and convenience of the original Z Hotel. What disappointed us most was that nowhere in the booking process or confirmation was it mentioned that Z2 even exists, or that we could be placed there instead of the hotel we actually chose. Guests at Z2 are allowed to use the pool at The Z Hotel, but you have to walk back and forth between the two buildings. Also, Z2 guests are not allowed to have breakfast at The Z Hotel, which added to the feeling of being separated or downgraded. Another important point, there is no elevator in the building. Considering the relatively high price, the overall experience did not feel worth the cost. If we had been clearly informed about the existence of Z2 and what it offered we would probably have made a different booking. As it stands, we felt misled, and that we didn’t get the value or experience we paid for. The Z Hotel itself is lovely with a great vibe, just make sure you know exactly where you’re staying.
