The front desk was welcoming upon our arrival, suggesting tours, activities and Madeira wine tasting. The lodge is below a tall mountain ridge and receives sun in late day. The breakfast is a 100m walk from our room. House keeping left the sliding glass door to our room open and some ants joined us; prompt service from the front desk resolved the issue. The room furniture was basic but largely comfortable. The room was relatively large. Check out was easy and efficient.

After reading previous reviews, I made sure to book a newly renovated room in hopes of having a more comfortable bed than previous guests described. Unfortunately, our bed was very hard and did not allow for a restful night of sleep. The gardens are beautiful, staff was kind, and the room was tastefully decorated.

Beautiful property with plants everywhere. A place to relax and chill amongst butterflies and plants! Staff and kind and attentive. Management respond to any issues (our frying pan needed replacing and they did after I fed it back. Breakfast has a good variety. The restaurant is nothing massively remarkable but a great thing to have close by as there are not many other places to eat in the area within walking distance.

Like staying at your aunts house

Lovely gardens sine of the rooms seemed like they might be from the 1970s which is quaint staff was friendly and minimal our cottage room had no fan and minimal lights it was a interesting experience felt very much like living here 40/50 years ago. The ground are extensive lovely gardens the restaurant food was really good just prepare to wait as three staff are serving but again super friendly and food was great ! Just add fans to the old cottages and maybe upgrade the electrical a bit and it’s a nice stopover … the sound of the birds alone is a reason to stay magical but not luxury

Absolutely a beautiful accommodation. The houses are surrounded by a green paradise. They have all the luxury you need. It’s quiet, peaceful and beautiful ! Oh and “Bowtie cat” in the restaurant is so cute..

I loved the hammock on our porch! The rose garden was beautiful. Our porch had a view of the sea and the mountains. It was nice to have a separate sitting area and the weather was beautiful to enjoy sitting out on the porch.

The beautiful flowers and plants in the facility were wonderful! Going for a swim in the pool near the reception was amazing, especially against the mountainous backdrop. The rotation is also gorgeous and worth checking out! Starting here was like staying at a beautiful nature museum. The two reception staff who served us were extremely helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check out one hour later than usual and invited us to continue using their facilities and amenities after checkout!

The location of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The views of the surronding mountains and gardens all over the property really make you feel part of nature. The lobby, outdoor pools, and walkways are well kept and clean. The parking lot is direcrly across the road and private which is great. Westward up the main road is a great resturant for dinner. Only concern is that the smaller 1 room villas are in much older condition compared to some of the other stay options on the property. They have everything you need, but there is lots of evidence of wear. The larger multiroom villas on the north west side of the property seem much newer.

Beautiful gardens and surroundings, but very cold inside the villa. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes and cutlery, but no salt, coffee, tea, etc. Not at all what I was expecting from a 4-star hotel. Overall, it was not good value for money.

The villas have horrible beds I had 3 night stay in villa 1 and by second night my back was so sore I was dreading to sleep on that bed … I called front desk and was told I could move to studio for 3rd night … studio was much nicer and bed excellent .. the studio was cheaper and they said could not refund my money so they gave voucher for dinner at next door restaurant .. the grounds are amazing staff very good … avoid villas dirty old and beds horrible!!

Usine à touristes - besoin d'une grande rénovation

Grande déception sur cet établissement... On dirait plutôt un camping muni de bungalows, qui brasse les touristes à tour de bras, malgré des hébergements vétustes, pas très propres et moyennement confortables. Le petit-déjeuner fut le pire que nous ayons consommé durant notre voyage à Madère. Nous avons un avis mitigé sur le service car ça dépendait de la personne... Les points positifs sont la végétation avec des passages bien fleuris et plutôt bien entretenus, la Roseraie qui est jolie, les piscines bien entretenues, et le village dans lequel est situé l'hôtel qui est très sympathique à visiter. C'est vraiment dommage, le lieu à du potentiel. Le groupe Pestana devrait considérer la rénovation des hébergements au lieu de nous faire du green washing sur les économies d'eau, avec des petites pancartes dans chaque pièce pour nous rappeler de bien faire attention à nos consommations. Ces pratiques servent avant tout à réduire leurs coûts (et donc optimiser les profits) plutôt que de faire du bien à la planète.

We travelled in the off season (early March) and really enjoyed our stay. Our room had a garden view and it was perfect. We strolled through every pathway in the property and for a flower/garden/rose lover it would be absolutely amazing in the summer when everything is in bloom. Our check-in greeting and encounters with staff were always polite and cheerful and breakfast was perfect every morning. We would happily stay here again.

Le complexe est magnifique en soit, dans une forêt tropical avec en plus accès à la Roseraie inclus, c'est un vrai plus. MAIS, le service et la qualité des installations en chambre ne mérite pas plus qu'un trois étoiles. Je dirais même que l'hôtel est du standing d'un trois étoiles et la 4ème est dûe au magnifique contexte. Nous avions une chambre dans les nouvelles maisons (heureusement car certains se plaignaient de l'odeur de moisie dans les anciennes maisons. Le lit est confortable mais l'hygiène laisse un peu à désiré. L'humidité reste dans la chambre en tout cas. Le petit déjeuner est simple et pas digne d'un 4 étoiles encore une fois. La qualité des produits mérite d'être revue et j'ai pu constaté un poil dans les papayes et le beurre de cacahuète... Il est possible de demander le petit déjeuner à emporter, il est gratuit pour votre dernier jour mais payant pour les autres jours au prix de 7,5€ par chambre. Il est vraiment copieux. Le complexe dispose de deux piscines non chauffées et de deux parkings (un devant l'entrée de l'hôtel qui est vite remplis et un second dans l'enceinte en passant par l'arrière où nous avions chaque fois trouvé une place même le soir). Somme toute, je recommande cet hôtel pour quelques nuits mais dans les nouvelles maisons.
