The host cpuld not have been more delightful and accommodating- Melanie was charming and quite personable. The rooms were so unique and comfortable. The experience was more a bed and breakfast than a hotel.

At check in there was no car parking availability, which meant parking further away and carrying our luggage to the hotel. We were told by the manager John any problems with your room let me know, and on further inspection after unpacking, and going out to meet family till late afternoon, found the Toilet seat in the Bathroom of our room to be so loose it moved around. We reported this to John in the evening while visiting the bar area, to be told " what do you want me to do about it at this time of night" The next morning after Breakfast and being out all day we arrived back at the hotel to find the Toilet seat still the same, and it had not been fixed or replaced. The room needs alot of updating with Windows that are very draughty, the decor was very tired looking, the mattress is of a poor quality with springs that you can feel with any movement in the bed, and the chamber maids did not replenish the Toilet rolls regularly, or empty bins not until the day we checked out after a 3 night stay.

I appreciate this is an old building but the room was very outdated, There was a strip of wall paper missing from above the bed frame, I'm assuming they didn't wall paper behind the bed frame! The bathroom definitely needs updating, very old we didn't use the shower as it was in the bath and looked to have a lot of lime scale, However it was good value for money and the staff were very friendly. The food was also good value for money and tasty, The children's portion size was excellent.
