Seemingly scammy deposit, understaffed
The hotel itself is okay at best, good distance from things in Seattle. I assure you it isn't worth it for the lack of amenities and the price. The staff was nice, but definitely understaffed since I had to check out accross the street at a sister hotel? in the morning. Payed 219 for a single night, and forced to pay a 100 dollar deposit. Which I think is quite pricey compared to the airport options. Really my biggest gripe is that they charged me the deposit saying there was smoke damage. I don't smoke to begin with, but I'm not dumb enough to do it indoors. No communication I was going to be charged either. I'm not sure if this is some kind of scheme, but it's kind of baffling. I wasn't even in the room for a full 12 hours. I'll update this review after their 'investigation'. Really at the end of the day it's just not worth the headache, hotel deposits are already suspicious.

Historic Gem
It is an historical building and has all those quirks. But it is near everywhere I needed to be and it was perfect. I really loved it’s character!

Expectational value while visiting Virginia Mason
The room was well kept. The staff was very friendly. Check in was a bit difficult because the front desk at the Baroness was not staffed. You had to cross the street to check in at "The Inn", which is a sister property. This meant either carting your luggage with you to another building, or having someone wait with the luggage while someone else checked in across the street. It's a minor annoyance. Due to the property being in a downtown location, there is a lot of activity nearby, including in the middle of the night. My wife was awakened twice in the middle of the night - once by a mentally ill homeless person who was screaming at no one in particular and a second time by a couple having an argument. Building security is excellent so we felt completely safe in our room. Walking around during the day also felt completely safe. The room was very clean. The bathroom was small but functional. The building does not have A/C so the room was warm, which impacted our sleep. My wife and I both like to sleep cold, so the warmth of a 73 degree day might not impact other visitors. A hot summer day would likely be miserable. The mattress was also not the most comfortable. It wasn't bad, just not as nice as home. The room was advertised as having a Queen size bed. The bed in our room seemed smaller, so maybe it was a double instead of a queen. The rate we paid was very good, especially for downtown Seattle. The convenience to Virginia Mason hospital couldn't be better.

They said up front that it doesnt have air conditioning, that and there are no commodities. Other than those two, it is a cool hotel in a nice area. Very clean and the staff was really nice. I had a great stay.

Very cool old hotel. Was clean and affordable. No AC so it was a bit warm but they did provide fans. Would stay there again. Only issue was lack of parking. They have a pay lot behind the hotel but it was full so had to find another parkade and walk up a huge hill with our luggage. And not a lot of food options nearby
