We stayed at Michaels Resort in Falmouth to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Our first room was dirty, with pubic hair in the shower, black mould on the walls, dust, stained cushions and marks all over the walls. We were shown a second room which was just as bad, then moved again, carrying all our luggage ourselves and wasting so much time that we were late for a pre-booked birthday dinner.
In daylight, the third room also had pubic hair in the shower and black mould, showing this was not an isolated issue. The hotel overall felt poorly maintained, with visible dust and marks throughout.
Breakfast was another let-down. On the first morning it arrived stone cold. We told the waiter, who said they would inform the manager, but there was no apology or offer of replacement. On the final morning, a very simple order took 45 minutes and again arrived cold.
We were eventually moved to a much nicer room and given spa access, but it was not clearly explained when booking that spa access is not included in the room rate. At checkout, only two drinks were removed from our bill, which felt inadequate given the hygiene issues, disruption and disappointment. This was meant to be a special celebration, but the hotel fell far below expectations.
