My first wrong impression was upon entering the hotel. No one greeted us as we walked up to the desk. The guy just kind of looked at us. We finally got our keys and my son ask where Room 030 was at in the hotel. An older man was sitting at the desk counting change and he said "Basement" in a not very nice way. Yes, they put us in a room in the basement not far from the laundry room at the very end of the hall. I believe we were the only guests down there! The room smelled a little funny, the carpet was stained and looked dirty, and the bathroom was in terrible shape. It looked like they had tried to paint the bathtub and the paint was all bubbled up, the sink dripped, the wall by the bathroom was all moldy, and old and ugly looking. The bathroom needed to be completely renovated and cleaned!! I didn't even feel like it was very clean. I've never been treated this way before!! We've stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels quite a few times and have never had a problem. We almost felt like we were being discriminated against!! The rooms weren't cheap. We paid good money for a very cheap-looking hotel room. Such a disappointment!!!
