Thuan Phat Hotel in Soc Trang is well located and makes a good first impression from the street. The property looks pleasant overall, and the backyard pool and garden area are definitely nice touches. Our room appeared clean and well maintained at first glance, but unfortunately it had a noticeable smell, especially in the bathroom. We suspect this may be due to poor ventilation—hallway air-conditioning is either turned off or nonexistent, and the room AC automatically shuts off when guests leave. This lack of airflow likely contributes to humidity or mold-type odors. We noticed this seems to be a common issue in many 3-star hotels in Vietnam, along with fairly high noise levels in both the lobby and guest floors. The restaurant has a comfortable seating area and the food is acceptable. However, breakfast is not a buffet as advertised—guests are limited to one drink and one dish only, despite the “free breakfast” listing. On a positive note, the staff—from the front desk to housekeeping—were consistently polite, professional, and pleasant. Unfortunately, for us, the negatives (odor and noise) outweighed the positives. Given that Sóc Trăng has only one 4-star hotel—which we regrettably overlooked—we would most likely choose a different option if returning in the future.

The staffs here are very nice, the hotel outside looking nice but when you check in the room, it was terrible , the bed is like a piece plywood , the water is running so slow, and the restaurant has a lot of ants. I wouldn't come back to this hotel again..

Good for the purpose, but uncomfortable mattress

First I should say that, the hotel is probably the better one in the area. However my mattress was as hard as sleeping on a table. My hip started hurting if I slept too long on one side. The fridge in my room also smelled like onions. I opened it once to put a water in there, but never retrieved the water because of the smell.

Overall the hotel ís nice and clean. Staffs are friendly and polite. Unfortunately, we stay in a room having sewer smell. We could not sleep at all. Luckily, we stayed only one night. We e hope they will fix the problem.

I was in town to visit relatives and stayed here two nights. Pros: fast & delicious Vietnamese breakfast choices, pool and little playground. Cons: very firm beds, limited food options (no dinner available at the hotel restaurant), limited service available in the area. I was willing to overlook the cons and give 5-stars because my kids enjoyed the pool but then my room was overcharged for at check-out. They claimed that my kids breakfast were not included even though they gave me the meal vouchers at check-in and my kids were included in the room reservations (I was charged the extra headcount). By the time I found out about the extra charges, it was already paid by a relative. Instead of arguing with them, I just let it go.
