Toby on reception was so welcoming when we arrived. He gave us an upgrade, as we were here celebrating our anniversary, to a junior suite which was awesome. We will definitely come back, beautiful hotel, lovely staff, great location!

Very attentive staff and bottle of bubbles help put things right, however, the dust is still there🤔😳 Overall lo ed the laid back style the roaring fire, the breakfast options, the comfortable bed, the free overnight parking in the adjoining street (top tip). We stayed for one night and had a mixed experience. Unfortunately, the heating in the room wasn’t working when we arrived, but when we reported it to reception they were helpful and quickly provided a portable heater, which warmed the bedroom well enough. There was a noticeable amount of mould present in the bathroom, which isn’t something you expect at this price point. The layout of the bath/shower also means there is a window and windowsill within, so water splashes directly onto the sill and blinds when showering. Combined with the mould and the flaking paint around the window, it made the bathroom feel quite run down and in need of maintenance. On the positive side, the bed, pillows and duvet were extremely comfortable and we slept very well. The curtains also did a great job of blocking out the light. Overall, the stay was comfortable enough for one night, but given the price and the expectations that come with a Hotel du Vin, the room felt a little tired and not quite worth the cost. It has the feel of a luxury hotel, but one that could benefit from some maintenance and updating. Toby on reception was very friendly and helpful.
